RE: Mary C. Thompson Seymour
Dear Sandra,

Thanks for your messages!

Mary Cairns (Thompson) Seymour is my g-g-g-aunt. I am descended from her brother John Andrew Thompson (1831-1873, Memorial # 27513600).

Ros Davies' website is remarkable, isn't it? You have correctly identified Mary Seymour's father, Thomas Thompson, as being the same Thomas Thompson who was a grocer in Downpatrick in 1824 (son of Robert).

(Actually, a good bit is known about Thomas Thompson of Downpatrick b. 1795. He gets a half-page bio in Aynsworth Pilson's unpublished "Memoirs of Notable Inhabitants of Downpatrick," and there were several newspaper articles following Thomas' death by suicide in 1840.)

I would love to hear more about the emigration database you are working from! This sounds like really great stuff. Thank you for contributing, and please tell me more!

RE: Mary C. Thompson Seymour
Dear Sandra,

Thanks for posting! You are indeed correct Mary Cairns (Thompson) Seymour was the daughter of Thomas Thompson of Downpatrick (1795-1840) and his wife Mary Ann Miller (1807-1844). I have a lot of information about them, which I am happy to share.

How did you discover the identity of Mary's father? And are you related, or just sharing?

Thanks again!
