◊Find A Grave's primary purpose is a grave registration website. I believe the more information, pictures, etc., makes it much more interesting and a true tribute to the person. Please help by adding a picture if you have one or sending what information you have to share.
I am working with local research materials, newspapers, documents and the historical society to develope these memorials. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Try using the "VIRTUAL CEMETERY" instead of memorial transfers. It was created for that purpose.
TRANSFERS
Transfers will be considered for direct relatives if within the four generation guideline. A direct relative within four generations is (siblings, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.)
For EXTENDED FAMILY MEMBERS, (aunts, uncles, cousins) I will gladly make additions, corrections or links.
PLEASE USE the "EDIT" TAB on the upper right side of the memorial to send request for "TRANSFERS" or information to be added and please send the memorial numbers for links. This ensures I transfer or make additions to the right memorial. No transfers will be made from posting to my contribor page. Effective Immediately: I will not be able to add parent or spouse links, UNLESS BOTH NAME & NUMBER IS PROVIDED. It is a safety precaution to prevent incorrect links. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MY HEARTFELT THANKS TO:
BEANIE & JUNE who helped with the research and the thousands of hours we all have spent looking and developing this site not only for us but for others. Their input for the Auburn cememteries has been transferred for me to maintain. Records will continue to be added. Any information, links, pictures, etc. are very welcome for all to share. KARRI SAMSON, You were very helpful and kind to me with my research. Auburn Public Library. RETIRED 2012 MISS YOU!
Other contributor's whoever they may be for sending a correction or extra information to help make these the best they can be.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN REASONS AND WAYS OF HANDLING THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS. PLEASE SHOW RESPECT IN DEALING WITH THEM.
GOD BLESS
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN Today we walked where others walked On a lonely, windswept hill; Today we talked where other cried For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled. Today our hearts were touched By graves of tiny babies; Snatched from the arms of loving kin, In the heartbreak of the ages. Today we saw where the grandparents lay In the last sleep of their time; Lying under the trees and clouds - Their beds kissed by the sun and wind. Today we wondered about an unmarked spot; Who lies beneath this hollowed ground? Was it a babe, child, young or old? No indication could be found. Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay. We had been here once before On a day we'd all like to forget, But will remember forever more. Today we recorded for kith and kin The graves of ancestors past; To be preserved for generations hence, A record we hope will last. Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend, For stones sometimes crumble to dust And generations of folks yet to come Will be grateful for your trust.
"Show me your cemeteries, and I will tell you what kind of people you have." Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)
 | Christina, part 2 Hi, Glenda. I found Joseph Dalhoff right here on Find-a-Grave, and I see that there is a duplicate for Christina. I double-checked your email and yes, you did send me that ID number, but I didn't catch it. Sorry for the confusion. I'll take care of it. | | | Laura1814
 | Christina Dalhoff Hi, Glenda! Thank you for your note. I don't agree that these are duplicate people. The stone inscription said she was the wife of Joseph, not Bernard. There was a Joseph Dalhoff (spelled Doolhoff or similar) age 31 listed in the 1850 census for St. Charles County, Missouri. He was apparently single and working a farm for another family, a probable widow named Hatch. So he is the right age to have a wife who died in 1856 aged 34. Also, there is a Dalhoff two-year-old boy in the Molitor Cemetery who died in 1856, who is probably the son of Joseph and Christina Dalhoff. I also found a marriage record for Joseph Dalhoff and Christina Watts dated 8 Feb 1853 in St. Charles County. I found both the census record and the marriage record on Familysearch.org. There are further census records of Joseph there. I'll look for his burial information.
Joseph could be Bernard's brother or cousin, but I have not traced this family any further because they are not connected to me. I will add this new info I have just found to Christina's memorial. The memorials I entered in this graveyard were from a transcription of the graveyard done by local researchers. The graveyard is small and was used by early German Catholic settlers in the area during the 1850s until the church and graveyard were built at nearby St. Paul's in 1858 if memory serves.
Thanks for your interest! I enjoyed doing this research today. | | | Douglas Kirk Sorensen
