Sorry
I am so disappointed in how the photographed turned out for John Mitchell. They had just finished watering the area where he is buried and unfortunately his headstone is in an area that is not very level so it collects a lot of water. I will try to get another (better) photo for you next time I am there at Greenlawn. I did however get a decent picture of Mable's headstone who is next to John and will post that photograph to her memorial. Her headstone lays higher then John's so it gets a lot less water.

RE: Regarding Memorial 84678237
I don't know where Thomas Jefferson Teasley's second wife is buried. If she is buried near him, she doesn't have a headstone, unless one has been erected recently. At least, I didn't see one. Sorry I couldn't help you.

Re: L Jay
Many of the stones in this old cemetery are either missing or unreadable. I found this stone by following the list published by the historical society for the West Branch Cemetery headstones. I went by the surrounding stones with visible names & I hope this is correct. The name is no longer there & it is broken & on the ground.

RE: Simon Couch
It isn't far way. I am sorry there are no markers. If I get a chance later in the fall, I will go to the Westport Historical Society and see what I can find out there about what happened to them. Many are probably sunken. Also, at one time there were more trees there and in our hurricanes, tree limbs have fallen on old headstones and broken them. It is really a very serene place, with a beautiful view. Next time I go past there I will take a picture from the top of the hill looking out to the Sound for you.

I just wanted to let you know that there were 3 other people on the same stone as Eliza Hobby. They were David A. Hobby, Catharine Hobby, and Fanny A. Hobby. I have added pictures for all of them. Have a great day!

more
I meant to say that the stones from the 1600's are long gone, the ones from the 1700's are there, most of them but many too sunken to read. I will see what I can do for you. jhw

Burying Hill Beach Cemetery
I will go look, but in most of our old cemeteries, the stones are long gone and the unmarked graves have not been plotted and put on a plot plan. I will see what I can do, but it won't be for awhile. jhw

The cemetery office reports that he was cremated there and his remains were given to Russell Compton - he is not at Greenwood. I have reported to findagrave that there is a problem with the photo request so you will be receiving an email from them as he is not buried there.
