Gorham/Johns question
Hi Fred,

I'm wondering if you have a copy of the will of Eleazer Johns, a possible father for Mary/Polly Johns, wife of Stratton Gorham, or if you found any other items relating to her parentage. I know you've focused mostly on the Gorham line, but I thought I'd ask.

Gorham Family
I just registered here and noticed a lot about the Gorham family. Are the people on this site mainly related? I am trying to access info on Fred's tree.fredberardi.com . It says to register, but I can find out where, could someone here help me with that also. Thanks

Josephine Amelia Gorham
Hello Fred,
We have communicated before on ancestry.com. Thank you for posting the information re: Josephine's burial. She was my 2nd great-grandmother. I have been trying to find information about her parents.
Regards,
ML Reid

RE: Gorham family
Wow!! That is amazing news! Would you be able to send me a scan of the indenture? Or at least a transcription? I searched and did not find anything, but I was distracted by having several family members with me at the archives who were not quite as determined as I was to search all the files!

I will take a look at the higher resolution photos I have of Howland Cemetery. It does seem the logical place for Joseph's burial, but when I was there, I did not find any stone with his name. There were some which were illegible, though, and some stones may still be buried in the mud from past floods.
The family who own the property did all they could to find lost stones, but one may have been missed. I will let you know if I see anything conclusive in my original photos.

Gorham family
The only connection I can find between Stratton Gorham and Joseph Barlow Gorham is that Stratton was one of the administrator's of Joseph's estate, and that Joseph's wife Abigail's maiden name was Stratton. It's not proof, I know, but it's my working theory. I have copies of Joseph's probate file.

As for the owners of the property where Howland Cemetery is located, they have been very helpful in restoring the cemetery, but they are new residents to the property and don't know any history of the burials there except those which are very recent. (ie, the past 10 years or so). They did give a list of all names and dates on stones they were able to locate to the library in Wilmington. That library has all the data in their cemetery book, which is how I found out about the graves.

I'm going to take a look at your posted info you mentioned, and get back to you with any questions. Thanks for contacting me.
