RE: Andrew J. Piercy
I was so glad to received your reply. I live in a small community, Chicopee, KS, near Pittsburg. Near here on Cow Creek, Maj. Andrew J. Piercy attacked and routed a Union wagon train on 23 Oct. 1864. I am a local historian here and have researched this skirmish for many years. As part of that research I have researched Andrew J. Piercy rather extensively. For several years I tried to locate where he went after the war. It wasn't until I found you photo of his tombstone on Find-a-Grave that I found he had returned to WV. I think I mentioned that I recently spent a week in WV reseaching the remainder of his life. I would be more than happy to share any information I may have about him. I plan to publish an account of the skirmish on Cow Creek in a year or so. I would love to have a photo of him. Also any information you could add would be deeply appreciated. Are you a descendent of his son George Henry or Marquess Dewitt? I have a little information about Andrew's children, but it is not complete. I look forward to hearing from you. My e-mail address is: jdlomshek@hotmail.com. Thanks so much!
Jerry

Andrew J. Piercy
I just returned from a week in West Virginia researching the remainer of Andrew J. Piercy's later life, after the Civil War. I would love to contact someone in the family. I have done extensive research on a Civil War skirmish that occurred near my home in Oct. 1864. Maj. Piercy was the leader of the Confederates at this skirmish.
