It bothers me so to see people ruining the integrity of such a valuable tool as "Find A Grave" by posting multiple listings of the same cemetery, cemeteries that don't exist or just guessing that someone might be buried in a given cemetery. I have photographed several hundred cemeteries in Northeastern Conn. Mass. and R.I. and only once did I find a cemetery that wasn't already listed. Even then I researched it and the people entered there for several months before adding it. I have over 250,000 gravestone photos and have photographed many cemeteries in there entirety, I use the "Hale Collection" done in the 1930's as my bible. If your marker request is older than a 1932 death date and not listed in the "Hale" census, you can be 999.9% sure it doesn't exist. If the marker wasn't there then or was unreadable, how can you expect someone to find it now? Being so, I'll no longer fill requests for anyone who abuses the integrity of this site. PLEASE do us both a favor and check with the Hale Collection before entering a request older than 1932 or adding a new cemetery as most likely if its in the Windham, Tolland, New London, or Hartford Counties of Connecticut its already listed, could be just under a different name than you might have. There are some cemeteries that have had name changes or even have several names. Quite a few older cemeteries have even been moved and combined with others. If your still unsure or having a problem, I'll be glad to help you research it. Thank You. The link to the "Hale Collection" is...http://www.hale-collection.com/index.html
USE OF PHOTOS: All photos on Find A Grave are copyright protected and permission is needed for even personal use. Those who strictly prohibit the use of photos for any and all reasons have no place in posting them in a public forum. But I myself have restricted the use of my photos because of a very few who abuse this site and have taken my photos only to post them as there own. This site should be left to we addicted genealogists who believe in helping each other out. After all, were all brothers and sisters through Adam and Eve. Being said; Even though I mark my photos copyright protected, there use for personal reasons is granted as long as there posting to your site meet one of two conditions. My newer photos have the copyright disclaimer already watermarked onto the photo, and although adding "Photo by brianz190" somewhere would be a nice gesture, if its already on the photo, its not needed. But for my older photos where there's no watermark, permission is granted as long as somewhere it credits me ( "Photo by brianz190" )as having taken the picture. I apologize for those few photos I've placed a watermark across the face of the monument, But that was done because I know that's a photo sought after by one of those few abusers. Photos that you will be using for personal use and you will "NOT" be reposting anywhere online/and those you will use for printing are available on request without the watermark. Thank You for understanding.
PHOTO REQUESTS AND INFORMATION INQUIRES; I have over a quarter million gravestone photographs, Keep that in mind when sending me a message or e mail. Its almost impossible to figure out who your talking about if you don't send me the full name, (and or maiden name) dates of birth and death, cemetery there in, and photo number on my photo if there is one.

 | Holland My Husband, Ernest Holland, is the son of Lorraine and Ernest A. Holland. Yes, April is the Granddaughter of Ernest Albert Holland and Lorraine Holland. The Immediate Family members are listed on the back of their stone located at Evergreen Cemetery. They are all still living. I have been a member of this community for some time and am willing to work with you. I am interested also in which line of the Holland Family you are working on. I have worked with a former "Thread City" historian and traced several Hollands and also had the opportunity to speak with my father in law Ernest A. about the family and well as Lorraine. Please feel free to contact me. | | | Michelle Silvestri-Oetinger
 | RE: Ernest Holland Brian, Thank you for your kindness. I was very hurt by her statements, but did understand that she seems to be new and didn't understand what we do. Respect and preservation of our family history is what we are here for and yes, you have every right to request photo's of this branch of your family. I really appreciate you note. Thank you and take care! Michelle | | | April
 | RE: Ernest Holland I was the least bit rude to you. Coming from someone who was extremely close to them and seeing someone you've never heard of request to have pictures of their grave is a tad bit overwhelming.I'm sure you can understand. And as far as relations go, I AM their granddaughter if you do some research you will find I am daughter of darryl lloyd holland who is married to wanda holland. I can also tell you that Lorraine was brought up in foster homes and Ernest lived on a farm at one point.Added by April on May 22, 2013 5:21 AM | | | April

 | RE: Use of Photos My apology. I try, Brian, but sometimes I miss. Problem is you don't tell me which memorial I missed on! Let me know and I'll fix it. | | | A Families Tree
 | Ancestry.com Hello. I read your bio and I did not see any mention of ancestry.com. My family tree is located at that website. I always credit any photos, stories, documents, etc. on my tree that are not my own, but I want to know if I can use a headstone photograph on my tree at ancestry.com (with proper attribution of course)? | | | | [View all messages...] |
