Hello...I have been researching Elizabeth Doughty/Doughtry and Minor Manning Tynes...I descend from Martha Tynes and Kansida (?) Tynes, sisters, Martha married a Poole and Kan(u)sida married a Trescott. Fleming Tynes Poole and Amanda Trescott were first cousins. They married, and their daughter, Mary Ella (Tiny) Poole married Zachariah T. Smith. They were the parents of my father's mother, Perla Smith, m. Thomas Stephen Brady. Let's go on. My father's oldest sister, Lois Elaine Brady, married Alvis Lorraine Tynes. They never realized they were 3rd cousins. I began this genealogy journey 35 years ago, and I did not put it together until the computer age, and by that time, the principals were deceased.
Lois and Alvis never had children. She taught school in Gloster and Liberty until she retired, and Alvis was a postman, rural route.
I have as much Tynes in me as most anyone, since I have Robert Fleming Tynes and Melissa Watkins as my 3rd great grandparents TWICE!!!! My tree is on here, if you want me to invite you. It is public. I am 83, and want to share with as many people as possible. MILDRED BRADY VENITUCCI
Thank you for contacting me. If you click on the picture youll get a bigger/closer one but Im afraid that it appears all the data/info has either faded or been pulled off the funeral home marker. Youre welcome to contact the photographer (listed under the pictures) maybe they can provide more info. Good luck.

No, I haven't done DNA Ancestry and I'm not completely sure I am related. My grandmother was a DAR member and so I do know that I go back to John Word, Jr., who was married to an Ann Chiles. The information I have found is she was the daughter of Henry Chiles, and I believe he was married to Margaret Littlepage.

I am Sarah Ellen Battles Abernathy's Great-Great-Grandson. I'd be interested in emailing or speaking with Marjorie about our Abernathy ancestry if she is willing. My email is

Good to know there are still some male Sitlingtons to continue the line. Robert Sitlington and his wife Mary 'Polly' Feamster were my 5th great grandparents through their son Andrew. My tree at ancestry.com is here:
My great uncle, Cleander Cleon Mooney put together an extensive Sitlington Pedigree in the 1920's that was included in our Mooney Genealogy.

Hi. I thought the Sitlington name was now extinct. Are you from the Sitlington family that originated in Bath County, Virginia?

Done! Thank you for adding on to this. I'm so glad I will know more about him.
