|Sharon Cunningham||Steamboat Captain William McClain|
The name SARAH McCLAIN on the large tombstone is, indeed, that of Wm. McClain's wife, SARAH THOMPSON. Go here, googlebooks, for a bio of McClain.
Portrait & Biographical Record of the Scioto Valley, Ohio, Illustrated, The Lewis Publishing Company, Chicago, 1894, p. 282.]
I'm writing an article that included McClain and would like to use your photo of his tombstone, if you'd allow me? Credit would, of course, be included in the photo's caption. Would need your full name and place of residence.
Please leave a PRIVATE message at my email address with your answer.

In William McClain's memorial there is a note at the bottom that says "Charles had a daughter, Isabella..." How does Charles relate to William, and can you tell me the proof source that Isabella's father was Charles? I have seen her other places as the dau. of William H. McClain and Charlotte Marquis. I don't know which is correct.. Thank you.

Thanks so much for the photo! I haven't been on this findagrave website lately, just got your message today!

No I am not related to Calvin or Mae Dingess. I just go around to cemeteries and post monuments of people so maybe some family will see it someday and so they won't be forgotten. Me and my husband just started doing this after the loss of our precious Son.
No, I was not aware that George had a school named after him. I know that he had been a lawyer and his father, Edward had been a Judge in New Jersey.
Does Portsmouth still have possession of the Indian Head Rock?
