My daughter got me started doing genealogy when she wanted to do a genealogy project for 4-H. In helping her find records, I became hooked. My favorite part is finding stories about past family members, bringing a part of history alive. My paternal grandfather was our official family historian until his death in July 2008. Since then, I have had the great honor of continuing what he began.

I was so excited to find this website. This is an excellent tool for paying our respects to those who have gone before us and to ensure they are not forgotten.

You have a point. Its hard to come somewhere before you were born.

I've amended the narrative.

RE: Burk Cemetery
I do not live in Virginia (live in WA state) about as far away as one can get. Your list of burials is probably quite valid - so if you have the time please do enter the memorials.
Thanks for all your work.

Family records

Did your grandfather leave any records of his brother, Warren W Glaze ? I'm looking for the date of marriage to Juanita Miller, my cousin.

RE: William Sr. and Mary Carter
A woman took some pictures for me of the tombstone's of William and Mary. William's was broken and was down on the ground. That has been several years ago. Mary's tombstone looked all right but the pictures are so dark they do not show when scanned. I will try and put the Carters on FindaGrave tomorrow so we can link them. Is that all right?? Not sure how to figure birth year tho for them both?? Someone figured Wiley and Sarah's for me. Just ordered two of the War of 1812 Calendars.

William Sr. and Mary Carter
Roxie, not sure what is meant by heading of column "Foot Location" and then has (Wm.C., Sr. by head). I know there are tombstones there for William Sr. and Mary Carter.

Roxie, I don't think anyone has made a FindaGrave site for William Sr. and Mary Carter yet. This is the info from the cemetery book put out by Kim Ray with help from others. Haw Creek cemetery. William, Sr. Foot location (Wm. C. Sr., by head) Death 20 Aug 1833 62 yr 7 mo 10 da Then Mary Carter w/o Wm. Sr: about 62 (M. C. by head) Death 16 Sept 1833 age 62.
