Can you tell me if Lucinda has a headstone in Forked Oak or if you listed her from cemetery or other records can you tell me where I can access this info? I am told she was Lucinda Tharp Johnson & I'm looking for info on her & the Johnson family. If you have any info you can share I'd appreciate it.

Thanks. I sure hope that all the burials for Shady Grove are eventually added here. I strongly suspect that both my great-great grandparents, John Rutledge Streetman (1827 - bef. 1910) and his wife, Elizabeth Jane (Clay) Streetman (1830 - bef. 1910) are also most likely buried there, as most likely is Nancy E. (Davis) Grisham.
John and Elizabeth were Jasper's parents and their old homeplace was across the road from the cemetery. Where exactly I don't know. Nancy E. Davis Grisham was Marsha Streetman's mother. Her parents were Rheuban Davis (1794-1866) and Temperance Franks Davis (c.1795 - c.1838 Lauderdale Co. AL). Rheuban and his second wife, Elizabeth (Phillips) Wesson-Davis, are buried near Iuka at Harmony Cemetery. I suppose it's possible that Nancy could have been buried there. Rheuban's old house is still standing, and still occupied, by a Davis descendant. I'd sure love to get a photo of that house!

I am shocked to see Uncle James's name here. Did he pass away recently or just put a stone up next to his mother Maggie Mock? He is my dad's half-brother. Dad was Willie Robert Smith. Need to find out if he has passed away or is still living. They all have Mom's phone number down there, and it upsets me that they won't call and let us know a thing! Uncle Johnny Mock died in 2001 and we didn't know anything until five YEARS afterwards. Betty Mock Johnson, my Dad's, Uncle James's and Uncle Johnny's sister, died February 12, 1986 and think she's buried at Shady Grove also.

Thankyathankyaverymuch. I've corrected spelling of name on findagrave memorial to be consistent with grave marker. Jesse Lee Simmons was my paternal grandfather. I was looking in Carolina Cemetary just a short distance south of Gaston. instead of Gaston Cemetary several months ago before I found out it was wrong place to look.
