I have been doing genealogy since 1995. Happy when work I have done helps others; makes me feel maybe I have not been "wasting" my time as non- genealogists think that is what I/e are doing.

Alice (Mack) Liggett/Vyse
Hello Olive,

Thank you for your information on Alice. I could not find Clinton Truman Liggett on Find A Grave, or I would have linked him to her. Although he died in Spirit Lake, Iowa, one source indicated that he was buried in Winnebago, Illinois. Unfortunately, I could not access which cemetery in Winnebago, Illinois, or I would have entered him myself. I did locate two of her children and have submitted edits to link them to her.

If you know of the cemetery in which Clinton Truman Liggett is buried, could you please either let me know and I will enter it and link everyone that I can find, or will you please enter him and link him to everyone?

Again, thank you for your information.

Sincerely,

Ruth Jaynes

Honoring My Ancestors
Re: Hilliker query
Thank you for your patience and gentle reminders in the quest for accuracy & streamlining the posted information on what I am assuming is our shared Hilliker ancestry. Time has gotten away from me with a hectic work schedule, grad school, teaching a college course and the holiday activities ~ all of which I love! So I will attempt to address the points that you have addressed:

1) How wonderful that it is YOU who has the will for William Hilliker! What a treasure that must be. I have only read the contents that has been posted by a fellow cousin on RootsWeb.com. Ironically, it does not mention his and Deborah's daughters in the will as was so common in those days. I know nothing of the erroneous dates mentioned in your family tree information (Daniel Matthew Dean, 4th Great-GF)so hopefully you can get the details worked out with the one who posted it. Frustrating indeed.

2). There is an entry made on the website, MyHeritage which states that William & Deborah Hilliker had children named Orin, Charles D., David Hilliker, Eliza, etc. Not sure if those families have been researched thoroughly. It would be wonderful to have all of the children linked to his memorial in order to make it more complete.

3). The memorial that I established for Giles Hilliker was done with the assistance of two fellow Hilliker cousins in Canada, kindly forgive any errors noted. The first cousin noted (Kathy A. Hoeldke) worked digilently on the family history while working from records viewed and obtained in Canada, the source where so much of the family history can be found in local offices. Sadly, she passed away a couple of years ago. She worked with Elizabeth Archer, another family historian who I believe also lives in Canada. Kathy has responded to my e-mails regarding the Hilliker/Hillaker family history. Her e-mail is Elizabeth.archer@sympatico.com and she also has a Facebook profile page if you want to make contact with her.

4). I added Giles' middle name as 'William' on his memorial page due to his own report in the 1871 census of Bayham Twp, Elgin, Ontario. Errors and inconsistent details certainly abound throughout records so all efforts have been made to be as accurate as possible.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding the latest documented research and/or suggestions regarding information on these ancestors. Warmly, Helen Murphy,Nashville, TN

RE: (2) Willaim Hilliker/Helleker: same parents?
(2) Willaim Hilliker/Helleker: same parents?
Hello Jan: Hoping you can help me and a Dean/Hilliker/Hilleker co-researcher here:

You did Memorial # 146013723 for William Hilleker and show his parents as Hendrick Hilleker and Jane Yerks. [Response: this is correct, he is buried in Sleepy Hollow, New York]

Would these be the same parents as given for Memorial # 116360850? Or is there another set of parents of same name as can happen? {I don't understand this question, as I do not see either Hendrick Hilleker or Jane Yerks mentioned in Memorial # 116360850]

I found the WPA card for William Hilleker online - Westchestergov.com but I still have not found what record they are referring to when stating he was in Rev.War - if a pension or bounty land, I have no access to same; do you? [I have access to Ancestry.com, Fold 3, and the Church of the Latter Day Saints: Familysearch.org]

Thanks. WE both will appreciate clarification to go forward w/our research. [Response: I am not sure what clarification you seek. The two memorials do not represent the same person. The dates of death and place of burial are not even similar]
