RE: Lester # 5
Thanks for the info. I wish I lived near so I could go take the pictures but I live in OK. I just made a trip to TN taking pictures. I am related through the Martin's, Powell's and West's.

Lester # 5
I have been studying the book written by Marguerite Tise, such great info about the Lester family. I am a bit confused by the numbering of the Lester cemeteries. An example is; John Lester, b Mar 7, 1776 & his wife, Mary Ann Terry are interred in Lester # 5 in Floyd County. I found them in Floyd County but the cemetery has no number. So am I to assume when she talks about a person being buried in # 5 she means the Lester Cemetery in Floyd County. That should not be a problem if there is only 1 Lester cemetery in Floyd.
Carolyn a distant family member of the Lesters.

yes, your answer does help very much. thank you. I have one more question for you. my grandmother was edna spicer, daughter of joseph and mary (bebe) harris spicer (crockett's daughter).

there was a sister, Elizabeth (betty) that was 2 yrs. older than my grandmother (so she was born is 1919). she committed suicide at 16 yrs. old- my grandmother said very little past that and she died while I was still sort of young so I didn't get to get a lot of family information.

I cannot find any death records (could be county has not put them online) but she is in censuses. would you have any knowledge of her burial since she was in family line?

thank you , again, for your help and response!

I am thrilled to have found this! thank you for your work in getting this together. I know very little from my grandmother's side of the family. she was spicer on father's side and harris on mother's side.

her mother, mary loutisha harris, was dauther of harrison CROCKET and mary ELIZABETH harris that are buried in the lester cemetery. there are no specific death dates for them- do you know or can you find out if they are there?

also, where exactly is the cemetery?

the lesters appear to be crockett's maternal line- mother possibly lucretia (I had Letitia from family notes).

if you have connections to family in this cemetery and know any more of these individuals are close connections, I would love, love to hear more. thank you, marti morningstar

John Lester Jr.
Hello Carol,

I have found my 4th Great Grand Father John Lester. He moved to Coles Co., IL in 1830 from Greenup Co., KY with his wife Mary Ziegler and their oldest son Samuel, his wife Sidney Flaugher and their daughter Cirrildy. John's second son Siglar Lester. My John Lester was born at Tug Creek, VA in 1780. Greenup Co., KY is on the border of the now West VA and KY.

Do you think your John Lester Jr and my John Lester are Father and son? My John Lester's Find A Grave Memorial # is 47382421 and wife Sidney's is 47404042....Let me know what you think....Sarah

RE: John Lester Cemetery
I havent been to Oregon but the pictures I've seen are gorgeous. I was just at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg to photograph tombstones for other family relatives a couple of months ago. I saw on Findagrave that some Lesters are buried there. Not my direct line but even so, had I known I would have tried to find them to see it for myself. That area of Virginia is absolutely beautiful. Lots of rolling green hills that roll up to the Blue Ridge mountains. Its still very rural.

RE: John Lester Cemetery
Right now I live in Alabama, i moved here from PA in January. My mother grew up in Virginia but moved to Delaware to take care of a sick sister when she was a teenager. I grew up there but spent my summers on the family farm in VA. Met a cousin from the Covey side of my family (also Floyd County) here in Alabama. It's fun to meet people interested in their family history. She got me started with findagrave. Are you from Virginia?
