A week or so ago I was asked to take a photo there of a stone that had the wrong name on it (see J.m.. Martin) the family was trying to get it updated with no success because the VA was saying that they are historical markers and even with a documented error they would not change it. The stone directly in front if that done was for C B Burton that had been corrected because of an error in name on the original stone. The way of fixing th stone was to place the correct name on the back., leaving the historical maker in place but updating it to accommodate the correct information. I took a picture of it in order to hopefully help the Martin/Odom family prove their point. I added a new memorial for this person because I believe if a family is searching for him they would look under his given name. Since the name he was buried under was similar but not the same. If you would like me to delete it I will. I was just trying to come up with a solution that would allow the family to locate it easily. | | | Emily Bush

I added a memorial in the Rock Island National Cemetery for a Gerald W Meyer. His stone is located in the "In Memory of" section. I couldn't find one that was already created but if I am mistaken let me know and I will delete it. I have learned that, sadly, contributor Beverley Audrey "Bev" Hill Gillihan has passed away. Her daughter has created a lovely memorial page for her and is in the process of transferring thousands of memorials that her mother created. I have added my request to the list. - Betty | | |
