I am a granddaughter of Walter Emerson Sparks (1889-1957) and of Iva Pearl Tracy Butler Sparks (1893-1993) - my mother is their youngest daughter, Carole. I'd like to offer a few corrections/additional information. Walter and Iva met and married in Pittsburg, Kansas (in 1913, I believe) and had five children, in order: Mildred Emma (who died at the age of 7 of influenza, possibly during the latent stage of the 1919-1921 epidemic), Donald Emerson (who married Opal Meyers or Myers; they had two daughters: Beverly Ann and Donna Louise), Frances June (who married Gail Froemsdorf and had two children: a daughter, Pamela Gail, and a son, Roger Kim, who died before birth), Walter Dale (who married Terri -?-, I don't know her maiden name, I'm sorry; they had fraternal twins: a son, Matthew Dale, who died at 7 months, and Kimberly Ann), and my mother, Carole Nelle (who married John Schultz, and had two daughters: Elizabeth Ann, who was born and died on April 15, 1961, and myself, Deborah.) I am a writer in Southern Maryland and I have two children: John Michael (born in 1995) and Elizabeth ('Ebie') NoŽlle (born in 1999.) I am trying to research the Sparks family genealogy as well as the Tracy Butler genealogy, and I would really appreciate any help you can give. Thank you.
RE: Johanna Elizabeth Hubbard Burns Debi, Thanks for contacting me. I had not seen the picture of Johanna HUBBARD posted. No, I can't believe that the picture is of Johanna, and the reason you give as to why it doesn't seem likely is a good one. That contributor also posted a picture of James P. BURNS, Johanna's husband. After going to the contributor's page and seeing all the requests from others for her to remove information and pictures that she posted on their memorials, I simply asked for her to remove both pictures from James and Johanna's memorials. I don't think it's worth any conversation with her unless she doesn't remove the pictures. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.
Emma Amelia Myers I have added cemetery info and an obit for Emma on her page in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. I was not able to find an obit for her husband, Albert, in either of the Topeka daily papers.
RE: George Worthen Debi: Sure hope we have this correct now - the Fairmount cemetery records had his name incorrect: They had Warthen instead of Worthen. But you are correct and I found his death certificate. If you would like for me to transfer his memorial page to you, I would be glad to do that. Ruth
