Bio and Links
Bio Photo I became very interested in researching my personal genealogy many years ago and was fortunate enough that much of my family history has been documented in books written by others.

I fully understand the frustration that can occur when you would like photos or information but it's hindered by distance or circumstance, and being a contributor on this site is just one way I have found to help others in their search as well.

If you need info from this area and think I may be of assistance, whether that be cemetery photo's or info from the courthouse or library, by all means, just ask me. I'll be happy to do what I can.

Enjoy the day! :-)

Hi cousin,

Saw the link to your Find-a-Grave page during some research of mine. I too am a Tisdale descendant. Line is John-James-James-Ebenezer-William-Nathan-William- Maria (My 3G grandmother) who married Major Daniel W Hurtt of New Bern, NC. Whe first William listed moved to North Carolina prior to the Revolutionary War.

If you link to my contributor page, you can do a Tisdale search and I have linked all the memorials back to John.

I noticed someone mention the Rosa Tisdale book, "Meet the Tisdales". There is an error with my line in that book. It lists Maria as being the daughter of Henry Tisdale. Henry was her older brother. Henry moved out to Alabama with his grandfather Nathan, and then on to New Orleans, where he died in 1854.

So if you need any info on the southern part of the family, I would be glad to help.

RE: Tisdale
Hi Elizabeth,

I do not have the "Meet the Tisdale's" book in front of me so I cannot be sure of the lineage. However, I do believe we descended from John Tisdale's second son, James. I hope you enjoy the Civil War Diary of Henry W. Tisdale. Many of the Tisdale's were living in the New England area. In fact, Henry belonged to a Tisdale Association complete with annual meetings and picnic. Their stationary had an oak tree with the motto, "As sturdy as our oak". Henry was president of the association at one time. I do not know when it officially ended, but every Memorial Day in the 1950's-70's the Tisdale family would meet for a picnic at Rocky Woods reservation and then visit the cemeteries. I believe that was a continuation of the Tisdale Association. It has dwindled to my Mom and Aunt and only myself from my generation to continue the tradition.

Hi TG,

Henry William Tisdale was my Great Grandfather from my Mother's side. Henry's wife was Abigail Cheney. Henry's son, Frederick, was my Grandfather. There are a few spelling errors. There are several books on the descendants of John Tisdale who was murdered in 1675. I beleive I am descended from his son James.

Henry W. Tisdale's Civil War Diary can be read at my site,

RE: Tisdales in Taunton
The information I got is from Robert Tisdales book The Descandants of John Tisdale (1614-1675) Colonial Massachusetts. He still sells this book.

I have no infomration on the burial place of John and Sara Walker.

There are two Tisdale burying grounds in and around Taunton Ma. One is at Assonet, and the other is Near Sharon Ma. No one has went to the one in Assonet to take pictures. The cemetery is part of a park there.
John and Sara are my 10th great grandparents.

You can upload pictures you have to any of these people if you would like to share any of them you have.
