Or . . . I might be barking up the wrong tree. We shall see.

More Potter Siblings
Hi, Barbara,

I think I've found 2 more of your William H. Potter's siblings, in addition to Sarah Larkin Potter Barney and Walter Lee Potter Jr. buried in Pocasset.

I have found Jeremiah and Mary E., whose names are on 2 different sides of a very large Potter obelisk headstone in Brayton Cemetery.
The dates and location seem correct, and I will see what other confirmation I can find.

I have requested links and a transfer, if they are not related and are so inclined. And if not, well, we have more distant cousins.

RE: Walter Lee Potter
Hi Barbara, I do have a file on the Potter family. it has been a while since I looked at it, but I recall something about the direct ancestor (I think he was the father of Walter Lee Potter) being a veteran of the War of 1812; and passing away in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I do not recall if i had confirmed lines, but I do have a lot.

Good thing: I know where the Potter box is.

WLP is Walter Jr.
The WLP I had posted is the brother of your William Potter, rather than the father. George D, back in Pocasset, posted the burial cards for the Barney plot, and the age on the card didn't match the dates I had on the memorial. I seemed to remember a Walter Jr., so I poked around on the 'net and found that my GG grandmother Sarah had a brother named Walter Lee. This must be the fella.

So we still need to find Walter Sr. and his wife Freelove. There is a Freelove Potter buried in Pocasset, but her dates are later and she is buried with a William Potter.

Do you have any clues about that connection?

Distant Cousin, I meant!
It was early, and I hadn't had enough coffee yet. :-)

Walter Potter
Hello, Distance Cousin. Yes, we share common ancestry through Walter Potter. He was my GGG grandfather through his daughter, Sarah.

As you can see from the photo there is no indication on the stone that he was a civil war vet. Nor is there a military marker of any kind near by. The metal flag stand type travel around cemeteries and are not always where they belong.
