I've been retired since 1996 and doing my family genealogy since 1997. See the Genealogy link on my home page, below, for all you'd ever want to know about my ancestors.
I am the webmaster for the Evergreen Cemetery Association of Brainerd, MN, which operates Evergreen cemetery in Brainerd and Memorial Gardens cemetery north of Brainerd. The Association website (see either of the above two links) has a "Directory of the Dead" which lists all known burials in both cemeteries.
Evergreen is a special place for me. I have thirteen direct ancestors buried there, going back to my Swedish 3rd-great-grandmother, Christina Petersdotter Ryden, who came to Brainerd from Sweden in 1877 to be with her daughter's family and who died here in 1883.
Photographs ——————— I have been a photo request volunteer for Evergreen since 2010. Any photograph of a grave or monument that I have uploaded can be used for private use. For public use, permission is hereby granted provided credit is given - something like "Photo taken by John Van Essen, Find-a-Grave photo volunteer".
If you find that a photo taken by me or someone else is of poor quality (dirty marker or bad lighting), feel free to submit a photo request with an info note describing the problem to be remedied.

 | Question Hi John - I got the notice that you completed my photo requests for Evergreen - thank you. I'm sorry I didn't know that most of them didn't have any markers - But thank you for checking and now I know at least. Thank you so much for treating Walter & Edith Swift's markers so they will be more readable. sincerely, Marilyn Phelps | | | gone_fishing - unless_you_email

 | PETER F. RINGWELSKI . . . Hi John . . . thanks for your note on the Peter RINGWELSKI duplicate. I've deleted mine and sent information and links to Lauri. I try to watch that carefully but every now and then a "dup" slips in! Thanks again . . .

 | Leroy Krantz / Leroy Kranz John - thank you so much for leaving me a message regarding Pvt. Kranz. After reading what you have or had found regarding the name, I went back to the his military headstone application and find that although it states his service records were under the name KRANTZ, I didn't catch the name of the family member by the name of Mary KRANZ that had actually filled it out and signed it. SO...in conclusion, I would have to say that KRANZ is the correct spelling. Therefore I have deleted my memorial and will get with the owner of the other and pass on the information that I had and also the information that you had given me. Many, Many thanks again for all your help... | | | Mona

 | RE: Welcome to Findagrave I did! just getting started with it.
How great to hear from you. We recently got some Schaefer family history and I was on the Evergreen site to see if the some relatives were buried there and noticed the memorials.
Hope you are well. There are lots of memories our families share of the good old days. | | | Bonnie
