Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been a Vliet family researcher since 1990 and so I would assume this qualifies me to be a genealogist today in 2010. My family roots are in Long Island, New York, starting in 1662 and then migrating to central and northwestern New Jersey in 1710, and on to Canton, Ohio, in 1884 where I was born. Continuing westward, I have lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Auburn, Washington, and I now reside in Little River, South Carolina.

My Find A Grave interest materialized from my family genealogy research because many of my family grave sites dating back to the 1600's to 1800 have been lost due to a variety of reasons. I have added five family members to Find A Grave because their headstones are lost, obliterated, or their cemetery is on private land and lost in time.

When the situation arises,I notify Find A Grave contributor's to identify Vliet family members that have illegible headstones, etc., especially children.

RE: Vleit Headstone Photos
You're welcome! I found Elizabeth's plot, but she doesn't have a stone. I'll take a picture of the area and post it. She's buried next to an Albert Vleit - I'm going to create a page for him also in case anyone is looking for him.

I thought I found Edward, but it was the wrong one. I'll search for him also.

Regards,
Joan S.

Dutch New Amsterdam poster
Dennis,

Where did you find the graphic (or was it a poster) of Dutch New Amsterdam, 1660? I would love to get a larger copy of that so that I could actually read the writing. I have discovered that I am a Vliet as well as a Hoogland, and both of these ancestors had parcels of land in Flatbush in about the same time, (by 1660) so I'd be very curious to know if their parcels were near each other and if they might have met each other during their lifetimes.

Hi,
I searched my records for Vliet, Vleit, nothing..are you sure I added him? Tell me what cemetery and exactly how I spelled his surname so I can transfer ownership to you.

If he is listed as FAMOUS, I cant do anything for you as this website owns that record.
