Born March 10, 1940 in Hogansville, Troup County, Georgia to Herman Hanson Mattingly and Mary Lee Oma Crowe and the second eldest of seven children to Herman and six to Mary.
My primary genealogical interests include Mattingly and Crow/e and connecting lines. I am descended from Cezar Mattingly but research all of the Mattingly name. From the Crow side, I am descended from James Crow (1713) and his second wife, Grace Denson.

Do you believe the Steele Mattingly you have on Find a Grave is the spouse of Alberta Florence Faris (1866-1951) who was the daughter of Daniel Faris and Mary Moren? I found her and her son, Steele F. Mattingly, with her parents in the 1900 (reported as Bertie) and 1910 census. She is reported as a widow.
In 1920 and 1930 Bertie is the Head of Household. In the 1940 census her son, Steele, is head of household and his family includes a wife, Anna L., and children: Steele F., Helen L., Mildred F., and Anna M. They lived in Lewis, KYAdded by LF on May 17, 2013 9:14 AM | | | Stephen Walker
