|Southernatheart||Pitts Cemetery near Milledgeville|
Hello. I am a Pitts relation from Oklahoma, and am wondering if you could provide a little information RE: the Pitts Cemetery near Milledgeville.
We are going to try to get up that way soon, and from what I can glean from the maps and photos, it appears to be in a field. Do you know if this cemetery is accessible to the general public; are there any cattle, etc.?
Thanks for your time. Southernatheart

Richard Patton Bishop & Ida Bishop owned several businesses in Milledgeville,Tn. including Cafe that recently closed. It used to be a service station at one time and also they used to live in an apartment inside that building. My mother remembers a sale barn & general store that also was in town. Both grandparents are buried in Milledgeville ,cemetery behind the cafe. I am trying to fill in the blanks with James & July Bishop ,but they had moved to Ark.during Civil War as far as I can tell. I would like to know about other Bishops that fought in Civil War especially 21st TN cavalry that appears to have fought with Bedford Forest from books I have been reading. Thanks Look forward to hearing from you again. T. R. Cone

No, I am not related to Mary Pitts, but its a funny story. I have family buried at Lebanon, and I took my two sons there today to see what we could find and take pictures. I found the stone of my g g g g grand father, Daniel Adams and I called my sons over for them to take a look and to have their picture took at the headstone. They were clear across the cemetery when I called them. While I was waiting for them to mosey over, I snapped a few pictures of some interesting stones. When I looked through them, there happen to be Mary's stone between the first picture of Daniel's and my sons standing next to it.
It was just shear luck to have taken it. I wasn't looking for it at all, but I am glad it worked out.
You should get to Lebanon, but if you can't, there is a book published about the cemetery you can buy for a donation to the cemetery up-keepers.
