I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and have been actively involved in genealogy since 2003. I am pleased with Find A Grave and think it becomes especially powerful when we take the time to link husbands to wives and children to parents. Using Find A Grave, I have designed Genealogy "Treasure" Hunts for my grandchildren. I also like to see the photos added, not just a transcription as the two together are more powerful. |
While following our grandsons to sports tournaments, we often spend time between games taking photos in the cemeteries. I realize that some of the photos I have posted could be improved upon with better lighting, but for me it is not always possible to return. I will gladly remove my photo if you post a better one and let me know.
I am especially interested in the following family names: Browning, Honaker, Hay, Kelly, Baird, Gregg, Filmer, Kennett and Cathcart.
NOTE: You have my permission to use the gravestone photos I've posted for your genealogical purposes. Please do not copy the person photos without contacting me for permission. Please do not post my photos to other websites. Thanks!

|Okanagan Researcher||RE: Filmer Family|
David Monro (this spelling on his plaque) married Catherine McKenzie (sometimes spelled MacKenzie)5 March 1807 in Quebec City. They had 4 other children, all born there:
James (1813 - died aged 1 month)
Ann Bell (1815-)
David Arthur (1818-)
Catherine's sister Anne married Matthew Bell, David Monro's business partner in Quebec. (have a look at the Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online for both men)
Their parents were James McKenzie and Helen (Nelly) MacDonnell who married in Montreal 9 April 1780. James was another merchant and had come from Scotland.

Only slightly. Her mother was the sister of my 3rd great grandmother.
I hadn't realized the connection until I came across the plaque for David Monro in Bath Abbey. I knew he had been my 3rd great grandfather's business partner, but not that he had married the sister as well until I looked up his biography.

I live in the United States. I am the great granddaughter of Martha Gregg b. circa 1891 and died in 1959 but that's all I know I thought she was German because that's what I had always heard but she isn't as you probably know she married Charles Sylvester bradburn. She is buried in union South Carolina in rosemont cemetery. my grandfathers name is George Franklin bradburn. If you or anyone could tell me anything about the gregg family it would help so much she's the only one I'm stuck on other than that my tree is complete almost on both sides.
Hi. I see you are not a fan of allowing others to republish your photos to other websites. Just a heads up about Find A Grave’s new rules about that. "Our Terms of Service allow photos posted to Find A Grave to be shared amongst the Ancestry Community. As a result, you can post photos you found on Find A Grave to your Find A Grave memorials or on other Ancestry Community websites. We recommend that you provide attribution to the user who originally posted the photo before reposting it anywhere." You don't have a choice.

|David Reese||RE: Filmer Edit|
Thanks for the edit! Yes I am, Robert and Elizabeth Goushill are my 17th great grandparents.

Its not that I have anything different, its that I cannot prove the connection. Since I manage the memorial, I feel that I need to be able to prove the information contained in it. So I have transferred Ellen to your care. You can make the connection if you wish.
|Betty & Dan||RE: Edits to Reimer Graves|
Thanks for the offer, but they are only collateral to our family. Perhaps someday a Reimer will want to "claim" them.

Leo is buried there with Carol Jo Vasicek. I created memorials for them if you want to look at them. I do not know the family. We have had a lot of snow on the ground here that kept volunteers out of the cemeteries since these are wooded hillsides. We are getting all cleared up now so hopefully you will get requested photos soon.

I have only the information provided by the original contributor who created this memorial. I took over the maintenance when he was no longer able. I would suggest you contact the cemetery board for further information. That information is on the main page for the cemetery. Good Luck with your search.
