RE: Stephens
Hi Janice,

Joshua and Lousett Stephens are the parents of Thomas Metcalfe Stephens.

Thomas and his wife Sarah Garman are the parents of Orbin Stephens.

Orbin and his wife Ada Mae Nance are the parents of my maternal grandmother Dorothy Stephens Arterburn.

So that's a long way to say Lousett would be my 3xgreat grandmother.

Please go to the memorial and send your message from there by clicking on the EDIT tab at the top. Then click on "Suggest a Correction ..."; make your request and click the "Send" tab. I have memorials all over the U.S. and just a name doesn't help. Thanks!

Rachel Walbert
Hello Janice,

I found Rachel Walbert living with her stepfather, Charles Leter, mother, and brothers on the 1900 census living in Jacksonville. The census shows she was born in May 1894.

The 1910 census indicates she was born about 1896 and was an inmate at the Illinois Home for Girls in Geneva, Kane Co, Illinois. The Home for Girls was a reform school for delinquent girls. The other girls at the Home were 14 to 18 years old. She may have been a problem child and had a difficult home life with her family. She probably didn't commit a serious crime to be sent to the Home. Likely, she was a troubled child.

It looks like her problems continued on until adulthood if she married four times. Hopefully, she worked through her issues and had a happy life.

RE: Walbert;s
Hello Janice,

I found the death record for Susan [Grissom] Cohagen and created a memorial [Find A Grave Memorial# 130470394]. I presume she is the mother of Emmett and Herbert Walbert. She is listed as divorced on the Illinois death index.

The 1910 census shows C.O. Cohagen and wife, Susan Cohagen, living together in Beardstown Illinois. In the 1920 census, Susan Cohagen is living with her son, Emmitt Walbert in Jacksonville Illinois. Susan Cohagen is living alone on the 1930 census in Jacksonville Illinois. In the 1940 census, Susan Cohagen is living with her son, Herbert Walbert in Jacksonville Illinois.

I found an article in 1919 where a Mrs. Cohagan of Jacksonville fired several shots at her husband. Apparently, they fought allot. There is a reference to a daughter with the name Mrs. Flag which could be the daughter of the husband and/or the wife. No first names are included in the article. So I am not sure if the article is about Susan Cohagen.

I found an article where Susan J Cohagan and Elmer E. Cohagan divorced in May 1920. That would fit with Susan not living with her husband on the 1920, 1930 and 1940 census'. It would also fit with Susan listed as divorced on the death index.

I didn't find anything about Rachel Price or Martha Jane Walbert.

I hope this helps.

I'm looking at the Wilsons in Metcalfe Co KY because that's the last place I found Wm K Wilson, in 1860. He & his family had been in Barren Co & some of them came to Missouri; they intermarried with the Kelsay family. I don't know their connection with my husband's Willson/Wilson family but feel that there is one, and his family has been eluding me for some time. If you would like to compare notes I'd be delighted.
