|Eva Hopkins||RE: Samuel Samuelson|
Elzene Johnson (she is 100 years old!) donated the funeral card to the Westchester Twp History Museum in Chesterton, IN.

Are you related to the Portage Township Samuelson's? I have a lot of history on them for the historical society but always want more.
|JCI Greg||RE: August Johnson|
I must've accidentally done something. I was researching that cemetary to see if I could do some finds there. Unfortuately, I have not been there yet. Sorry.

Has been gone a long time. Sorry I can't help.

Glad to do it, I also added a close up of the tombstone today that you can read a little easier.
|Verlaine Wright||August Johnson Grave|
I regret to inform you there is no tombstone on August Johnson's grave at Miller Cemetery. I had with me a map of the cemetery and a listing of each grave and I located the grave location but there is no stone. I can send you a copy of the map, a listing of cemetery graves, and a picture of the front gate of the cemetery, if you wish. There is an August Johnson in Blake Cemetery, Portage, Porter County, born 1861 and died 1915. The August Johnson in Miller Cemetery was born 1856 and died 1924. There is no Anna Matilda Johnson in the Miller Cemetery listing but there are several graves on the list that say "Johnson ? no data" or "Unknown Johnsons."
There are a lot of graves at Miller with no tombstone; some could not afford it and others were damaged or stolen by vandals (valdalism happened at the Miller Cemetery during the 1970's).

I live in Missouri but plan to visit Northwest Indiana this weekend. Will visit Miller Cemetery to photograph August Johnson's grave for you. I have about 20 relatives buried in the cemetery.

You are welcome, Lori!
He is my 5G-grandfather, also. I'm sorry I didn't have more time to look around yesterday, but will try to get back soon to find Anna Maria's resting place.

You're welcome, it was no problem. I'm sorry about the bad condition of Elizabeth's stone. I tried to unearth parts of it, but I had no tools with me. Also, one of their is buried by them and shares the same stone as Thomas. I added a memorial for her as well.
