RE: Debra Hegel
Well I cant say this was the longest I spent look for a grave (thats was about a week and a half) but this is the second longest. Two trips, 3 hours and 5 people later we found her. We had the location and finally figured out where the location was but didnt understand where she could be if that makes sense =). I was first told she was cremated and there were only 2 places that had cremations where we were. There was also a place for babies and they named it Babyland but there were no cremations there. We looked at both place and couldnt find her. We had to haved walk up and down those halls for about an hour, trying to understand the outdated maps when the gal helping me sugested we try to get more help. 20 minutes later after walking the same halls and looking at the same names they remember they dont cremate babies so she would have to be in the baby area. We found a crypt that we thought was hers but had another name on it and they sugested that maybe they were changed or something so they were calling the office (the grounds are over 160 acres) to get the location again when I sugested we get the location of the name we thought was in her spot. Since were knew where that was maybe we could figure out where we were and where we needed to be. Turns out that name is above hers and were were able to locate her crypt. Now I have to say that we all walked past this spot about 50x each and my daughter even said 'here are were the babies are' and we still coudnt find her. Once you look at the picture you will see why. They have no idea why the front of her crypt has this engraving. They dont know if it was donated or if someone put it on there for her. They did say that if you wanted to you could add a plaque with her name. They just need to find out if she is the only one in the crypt. If she is her name can go across the bottom if not then they were thinking of adding all the babies names around it. Anyhow Im glad I was able to get the picture for you. The ones that take more time to get always seem to mean so much more.

Oh I almost forgot, when I got back to my mothers (Im visiting her in Ca from Mn) there was a message from the gal that was helping me at the cemetery. She said she had more information and left her cell phone number but when I tried to call I go no answer. I will try again tomorrow, maybe it was to late by the time I got back. I will let you know what she has to say. I do have to say these are the nicest people I have meet. Many times they could have told me that they werent sure where the location was and if the next of kin wanted to contact them they could speak to them about it, but it never seemed to cross any of their minds. They were very determined to get this picture for you.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Greenwood. The crypt they took me to was not hers. The gal explained to me where her crypt was and I will try to get it tomorrow for you.

Im sure its the same one. What I did notice was that the office personal dont seem to know much about the graves and handle the families in helping them with their deceased love ones. I did find a gentleman who was working in one of the mausoleums that knew where everything seemed to be. If I can get a better location he can show me where its at. He just wasnt sure of what the CG was. He thought maybe it was Corridor G so thats where he took me.

Noticed you and Karena Couillard discussing Debra Hegel and the error report I posted on her photo request. There is only one Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, but someone created a duplicate cemetery here on Find A Grave. Debra Hegel's memorial initially was in the duplicate cemetery. Fortunately an admin took care of the problem of the duplicate the Find A Grave cemeteries; and now Debra Hegel's memorial is in the correct place - so I posted "Problem corrected",

Sorry my problem reports were too cryptic. I have no knowledge of there being a problem of actually finding her at Greenwood. I do not know where section CG is, but I do know that there is more than one Mausoleum.

I am sending a similar message to Karena as well.

RE: Debra Hegel
My first thoughts would be that the site you have isnt your sister if she died when she was a baby. I will call tomorrow to make sure but usually the babies are in a different area and this crypt was the size of an adult. Ill let you know what I find out.

I went to Greenwood today and the location you have listed has someone in the tomb but it doesnt have a name plate on it. I can call and ask if it is the right location and let you know.
