|Am retired from US Postal Service. Am researching my paternal side of the family...LANE. My husband's relatives are much easier to find.....they seem to fall out of the trees. My husband, Jimmy, was born to older parents (38 when he was born). We live on land his parents bought in 1930's. His parents lived to be 88 and 92. Parents were Charlie E Lee and Malisia Mae "Pet" Holland. We lived next door to them for over 20 years and I learned much of their family history. I have tried to preserve what I know for future generations. I live near Pinecrest Cemetery and Forest Hills Cemetery. |

Cool! Before the Marsh's lived in that house it was frame and owned by an older couple. They were sweet people and I knew Freddie Marsh from school and as a neighbor. Off of Hilltop Road on the right is a subdivision and then when you go through it goes into Quail Ridge subdivision. Quail Ridge was my parents' property and after my father died my mom sold that land to the developer. We used to go in that area to cut wood and there was an old 'home place' there. you could see where they had a cistern or root cellar and there were daffodils planted around in the area. Owens Creek went through our property and the bridge there on Hilldale used to be wooden boards.
I've sent information several times to Pinecrest about corrections they should make on their list that is on the internet and they have never gotten back to me. I haven't looked recently to see if they made the corrections. They weren't showing some of my husband's family that are in one of the mausoleums.
When we were still living out there my mom and some other neighbors would walk in the cemetery every day (safe from traffic) and they came across someone who had committed suicide over a grave. Very sad - and needless to say they didn't walk there anymore. I have photographed a few areas there for people on Find A Grave. It is a large cemetery, but it is pretty and I've been around it almost all my life. They used to play chimes on Sundays that we could hear at our house. I don't know if they still do that.

There is a Finch Rd or Drive on Hilldale - - that is where I grew up. We (my husband and I) built our first house on the hill across the street from the Bobo's before you get to the electrical highline. We sold that place to John Martin who still lives there. My older sister Annella (Nellie) lived on Finch and the newer house there on the left w/all the wooden fences and barn was our second house. I grew up in the house that is in the corner of Hilldale and Bonnie. Bonnie is my Mom's name and Finch is my maiden name. My Mom and Dad bought 80 acres there and we moved out there about 1958/59. In 1998 we sold the second house and moved inside the Bryant city limits over on the South side near the county line; we built a smaller house when our son married and had a child and now we are on the north side of highway 5 and my Mom is living w/us. My oldest sister lived on Bonnie right in the curve of Hilldale for several years. My parents also had another 40 aces that was off of Springhill Road that they used to switch to cows over to sometimes for better grass. I grew up with Billings, Courts, Robinson, Gaisers, Kyzers, Winklers around us. So - even with all the moving and change in homes I ended up about 2 miles from where I grew up :D

Let me know if Find A Grave does not correctly change to you on the Cameron Cemetery plot. I have transferred twice and gotten an error message that I am not authorized.

Hi, Marilyn - I have transferred your relative to you so that you can correct and add information as you see fit. You can use the photos that I took in any way you want - I'm not one of these people that think the photographs of the graves 'belong' to me.
I grew up on Hilldale Road alongside Pinecrest Cemetery and I have family buried there and in Forest Hills Cemetery.
