Bless you
How sweet of you to visit my family memorials. I was so pleased to visit myself and see your lovely flower token. It is so very much appreciated.

Hollis
Hi, Margie, good to hear from you. I am transferring Hollis to you, since he is kin. I did not know him, but had added him due to the fact that he was a Burks`s like my Mom. The house we lived in was 1414 Wells Ave., which was still there last time I was through there visiting. My stepmother lives down in 5 points on Halsey Ave. I used to walk past Maple Hill every day, twice a day, rain or shine, going to school at East Clinton. Is your friend descended from the family that Wells is named for? I also have extended family buried in the private section there. I hope to get back over that way someday to visit as the weather and my health will allow. One of my dreams is to attend the Cemetery stroll they have there where ppl interred there "come to life" and share their story. I think that would be awesome! We have that here on a much smaller scale-due to the size of the cemetery-each year in conjunction with Octoberfest, which is just winding down this weekend. Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend the stroll for the past few years, due to health reasons, but am hoping for next year. Most of my family think that I am nuts for paying good money to stroll thru there and "visit with the dead", but of course, I loved it! We know better, dont we?? LOL
I added you as a friend, hope you dont mind. Would love to hear from you! Maybe we will "run into one another" sometime at Maple Hill-that would be great!
Take care,
Carolyn

Burks
Hi, Margie!
Thank you for sponsoring Hollis Burks `s memorial page. Is he a relative? My Mom was a Burks. Her family came here from Carroll County, GA. in the 1800`s. I noticed you have several memorial listings from Maple Hill cemetery in Huntsville. We used to live a couple of blocks down the street from Maple Hill in the `60's on Wells Avenue. It is such a beautiful and well maintained cemetery. I think this is where my love of cemeteries first derived from, as we walked through there many times as children, admiring the different markers and their epitaphs, wondering about the lives of those interred there. I also have some extended family members resting there. How many children do you know with such a fascination for cemeteries? LOL
I also have a brother who is resting in Madison City Cemetery, who lost his brave fight with cancer at the young age of 22.
Take care and happy graving,
Carolyn
