We Are Chosen
My feelings are in each family there are those who seem called to find their ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again. To tell their story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts, but, breathing life into all who have gone before us.
They cry out: "Tell our story!!" So, we do.
In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told my ancestors you have a wonderful family, you would be proud of us… How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for us…I cannot say.
It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who we are and why we do the things we do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying I can't let this happen. The folks here are bones of my bones and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses. Their never giving up or never giving in. Their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family.
With love and caring we record each fact of their existence. Because we are them and they are us. We might be born that we might remember them. So, we the chosen tell their story.

there are a lot of issues, errors and assumptions in sources quoted. Further research is needed. I am working on an update but there are many problems everywhere so it will take some time. It will be posted in rootsweb.com message board under "Garrison"
|MooreToots||Henry Alward @ #153966444|
Just doing some research and ran across this on my wife's side of her families. In Ancestry, its stating that Henry, is Henry Alward the 3rd, and his son Henry is the 4th(IV) in line, shouldn't Henry senior be the 3rd (Henry Award III, 3rd or ?) in name only?
Upon reading the list of names below, as to his children and who is married to who. When you get Henry the 3rd at he bottom, is this the same Henry in #15396644 ??
I think its such a wonderful piece of family genealogy history, and actually see someone take the time to put all this in here, so much beautiful information..., but I find it just a bit confusing.
Maybe when adding Henry the 3rd's children (#'s 1 through 3), write in who they married and/or with explanation..., and try to leave out the numbers of 1 thought 7.
Sincerely, and God Bless!
I really apologize, if I'm barking up the wrong tree in this delicate matter
|Kathi Lynn King||isabella Williams confusion|
both of the Isabella's died in 1954. I saw the one. But there should be two.

Isabella should have just been moved over to Monongahela. There is another Isabella also in Monongahela. If you put yours up in Monongahela I can add the photo if you don't have one. Also there are 189 Williams buried in Monongahela are you looking for anyone you haven't been able to find. Monongahela does have a searchable website however becareful to verify as it is full of errors that I am working on with the office manager. http://www.monongahelacemetery.com/Search.aspx

Hi Sharon, the Williams memorials that you have posted in Mon Valley Memorial Park that have no photo should be in Monongahela Cemetery in Monongahela Washington County PA. Two of them you have listed in both places. I sent you edits for the others to change the cemetery. I have tombstone photos for all of them. If you let me know when you have edited the cemetery I will add the photos for you. thanks Kathi
hello, I'm confused why you're requesting that I delete the father link for Jacob Garrison and the spouse link for Anna Garrison.
thank you for clarifying.

oh yes--quite right! thank you for the correction--I've linked her to the correct Jacob now.

Missing graves. No idea where they are. That time frame is so tricky. I've made a couple of virtual listings to fill in gaps in other lines. I think it is good to put in biographical information when it is known. Indeed I've written some "essays."
I don't know if you link to Henry Jr's daughter Mary Alward Tunison (my ancestor) or not. Her husband Cornelius Tunison's grave is in a residential area in Martinsville in the middle of the street with the stone flat to the ground. Just as well. Apparently someone was carrying off stones for paving 30 years ago or so!
Henry is at the Presbyterian Church in Basking Ridge. One of my uncles (no relation to him) was buried there about 20 years ago.

I noticed you added a Civil War flag to his listing. I didn't find any reference to him actually serving in the Civil War, although I did find where he registered for draft at age 42. Would you send me info you have that he served? I have tried to identify all those who served in the CW in this cemetery and I did not have him, based on Illinois and pension databases, obituaries, GAR records, etc. Thanks.
