THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR VISITS!
I was born & raised in Ironton,Ohio. I now reside in Corbin,Ky. Virgil was my only child. Tony Thibodaux set his Memorial up. He's related on my husbands side of the family. My world revolved around Virgil. He was married & a father of a wonderfull little boy. My hobbies are Wheres George. When I hugged Virgil by that time I never dreamed of it being the last hug he would ever give me.
I DID NOT TAKE THE OATH
I DID NOT TAKE THE OATH;I DID NOT RAISE MY HAND.
ALL I DID WAS HAVE A CHILD WHO GREW TO BE THAT MAN.
HE DID HIS JOB WITH HONOR.
HE WAS NOT AFRAID TO FIGHT;HE WAS NOT AFRAID TO DIE.
THE BABY I HELD IN MY ARMS,THE BOY WHO BECAME A MAN,HE PUT HIMSELF IN DANGER.
HE SAID NOT TO WORRY;HE SAID,"I WILL COME HOME."
THOSE WORDS COME BACK TO HAUNT ME...SPOKEN OVER A PHONE.
THE KNOCK ON THE DOOR IS ALWAYS JUST A MOMENT AGO;THE TEARS IN MY EYES, THE PAIN THAT BREAKS MY SOUL
FOR I DID NOT TAKE THE OATH;I DID NOT RAISE MY HAND.ALL I DID WAS RAISE A CHILD WHO GREW TO BE THAT MAN.
THE BABY THAT I HELD,THE CHILD I WATCHED GROW FILLED MY HEART WITH SO MUCH JOY AS ONLY MOTHERS CAN KNOW THE MEMORIES OF HIS LIFE WILL STAY WITH ME FOREVER. THE CONNECTION OF OUR HEARTS CAN NEVER BE SEVERED.
HE IS NOW A FALLEN HERO AND I A GOLD STAR MOTHER,BECAUSE HE GAVE HIS LIFE. BUT I DID NOT TAKE THE OATH;I DID NOT RAISE MY HAND.
ALL I DID WAS RAISE A BOY WHO GREW TO BE THAT MAN.
It's been almost 5 years now & my pain is still so intense it hurts to breathe. I have found some true friends here. I have been trying to move forward but without Virgil it isn't working. I visit often but somedays I just can't stay online or am away from home. I do notice each visitor Virgil has had while I was away & appreciate everyone remembering him.

RE: Thank you
You are welcome. You had left messages on my great grandmother and G G grandparents memorials and great Aunt created by Scott. I was trying to find out if he is still active. I want to add bio detail. I found your profile and wanted to give you a hug and take your grandson to the park. So much sadness. I have experienced it as a child myself when our family lost young soldiers in Vietnam.

Dad's memorial
Dear Judy,
Thank you for the sweet token you left for my Dad. He would have loved it. I am so very sorry for the loss of your son. Parents aren't suppose to bury their children or their children's spouses.
Our daughter became a widow twelve years ago just two weeks before the Iraq War started. Our son -in-law was in the Navy when he died leaving two daughters two and five. Life does go on, the girls are proof of that but that space where your loved one should be will never be filled by anyone else.
The kindness you show to others is greatly appreciated. Sending up prayers for comfort.

RE: Thank you
You are so very welcome. The poem about "you did not raise your hand", was so beautiful it made me cry. God Bless you, and know he is with you everyday. You raised a brave and wonderful son.

Hi Again I looked back on your family line and see where we are connected. My Abraham and your Lawrence (Jr.) are brothers, both sons of Phillipp Lorenz Delawder. From there we go different directions.
