I've been researching my family lines for over 20 years and the thrill hasn't diminished.|
I enjoy taking pics at the cemeterys and submitting them in the hopes that someone will gain more family history and also because so many of the tombstones are fading or have broken thru the years. If any descendant objects to their ancestor being memorialized, please let me know and I'll remove the memorial.
I would like to give away every NON-RELATED memorial to people who have more information to add, so don't hesitate to ask; in your request, please include the memorial number (or a link to it) and your own Find-a-Grave member number.
I'm a photo rescuer - I often find old photos at flea markets and antique shops for a dollar or two with information written on the back of them. I try to find a family researcher to give the photo to or I will look for their findagrave site to add the picture to. If you see a photo and do not beleive that it belongs with the site or person please let me know to remove it. I add the photos to be shared.I can't guarantee who they are but can only go by what someone has taken the time to write on them, so if its not correct information I hope someone will let me know. I like to rescue them from being lost or destroyed, in the hopes that someday someone will find one my of lost photos.
FAMILY NAMES that my husband and I are researching: Livingston,Menke, Wiebler,Rempe,Groene, Rutledge,Bryant, Shawgo, McNew, Portlock, Tischbein, Rankin, Bailey.

Have sent typed transcript of the George Rupp obituary/biography as printed in the 1909 newspaper.
It really is a beautiful testimony to the person. I hope it will help his family.
Sounds like you earn a lot of genealogy good karma with your photo rescuing.
Thank you for agreeing to post his obituary. Thank you for all you do.

|Karen Tolliver||Fred Yock family photo|
Yesterday you posted a "found" picture of this family and I wanted to let you know that you were right on the mark - these are, indeed, a part of our Yock family. Fred was a 2nd great uncle to my son. There aren't alot of folks researching this family on Ancestry so if no one closer requests a transfer I would be glad to have it transferred to me. And, if that should be the case, I would gladly reimburse you for the picture. Thanks so much for paying it forward!

Thank you ever so much for the amazing photograph of Sarah! And for letting me know it was posted. Scio Historical Society and Linn Gen. Society will also be thrilled. (They both monitor these sites)
|Jeff Davis||Elvie Parks Rizor|
Thank you for sharing the photograph of the family of Elvie Isabelle Parks Rizor. It is always interesting to see old family photos. I am not related to the family, however it is greatly appreciated and someday a family member may be pleasantly surprised to see this. Have a great end of week, upcoming weekend and enjoy the fall season.

Would you mind if I transfer Ella and James M. to you after I create the memorials? I focus on photography and like to transfer as many memorials as I can to family, friends, and neighbors, etc. of the deceased folks. I'm going out the door to the cemetery right now so I'll email the map later. Jim
|Jim Davis||RE: re: Kate and James Smith|
Do you want me to mail you the lot map or email it to you as an attachment? You can privately send me your snail mail address if you send me an Edit to one of the memorials I manage and include your address.
The map contains the info that Catherine Shawgo Carter's great-granddaughter(?), Kathryn Edwards Cox, is buried on top of her grandmother, Kate Carter Smith, and is unmarked (as is Kate Carter Smith).The cemetery says dates are (2/20/24 - 11/29/74). The cemetery's same office however, contradicts their own info and says she's buried above her grandfather James S Smith.
On top of all this - there are two graves that are not on Findagrave - Ella Bateman (on Findagrave there's a Helen Bateman Carver who may have married into the Carver family so perhaps there's a connection to Ella) and James M Smith (I can't find any connection to the Smith/Carter family for him). I'll get their dates today when I return to the cemetery to take photos of another family and then post photos of all the Smith/Carver/Bateman graves later today - 5 plus 2 unmarked).
Just let me know what you'd like me to do about the map, ok? I REALLY hope I haven't overwhelmed you with TMI! Jim

I went to the cemetery yesterday and located their graves. Kate is unmarked but James has a marker. I seem to have backed into a genealogy project as my contact person at the cemetery gave me more info than I asked for. I can send you the map of the family plot if you'd like (he's a great contact person!). I will be posting photos (of 7 family members) on Thursday. I believe I've found four generations of Kate's family. I'll be happy to transfer to you those folks who don't have memorial pages yet, after I create them. Jim
