I am just a recently retired woman who thought it would be interesting to photograph tombstones for people who live far away. I have always been interested in genealogy, but never had enough time for it. Now I do!

RE: Ivy Lawn by-laws
I am so sorry for such a late reply (nothing but problems w/ my computer). Anyhow, I know all about the "Ivy Lawn No Photos Allowed in the Cemetery Policy" This is why a became a contributor for Find A Grave. -I am a Family Service Counselor at Ivy Lawn. As an employee I am able to take photos and submit them to families upon their request.

Now, we do have some families who have complained about seeing photos posted on various sites (myspace for example) of people just being very disrespectful, posing, laying across the graves of their loved ones. So that's why the rest of the staff enforces this policy.
I have my own opinion as to why it's such an inconvienence to our staff but it's still company policy so there is only so much I can say. -I don't think that my co-workers understand or appreciate the passion and dedication of a genealogy. I feel terrible when someone calls the office and one of our other counselors takes the call, and the caller explains in detail how they are related to someone buried in our cemetery and they've been researching...and all they need to solve this puzzle is date of birth or death verification and...according to the rules and regulations, no information is to be released -contact the family. Well its not that easy. And if it were so simple I think it would have already done!

So, I try to contribute as many photos as I can but sometimes the office gets so busy I'm just not able to go out on grounds. If there is anything I can help you with or if someone you know needs help at Ivy Lawn just send me a message or call me directly.

Again I apologize for not responding sooner.

Take care.

HI Jan, Thanks for the cemetery correction for Leo Kellogg.
I changed his page. Might you see if his wife is there too (Joan Egts Kellogg). Is the cemetery like a don't ask, don't tell?
Thanks, Catherine

Welcome Aboard
Welcome Aboard, Jan! I know you will enjoy this as a hobby. You get outside, stroll along a pleasant, grassy area with birds singing, and help people from around the country and on your own schedule! Retirement is great.... you get to choose your own time schedule and your own activities ;) YEAH!
