 | Headston in Crown Hill Cemetery Hello, I have a question about a photo you took of the stone of Ralph Chastain 46606873 and wife Effie Morris 7874923 in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Washington Co., IN.
I recieved a email from a a great-granddaughter who says that they are in the Lost River/Old Union Cemetery in Washington Co., IN.
Would you please verify that the location of the headstone?
thanks, DebbieAdded by Goddess on Feb 19, 2013 4:44 PM | | | Chris Horne

 | Amos Wright Not that it matters, but the memorial [done in 1983] for Amos Wright and wife, Margaret is a bit in error.
According to Eld John Wright's diary, ["The Life & Pilgrimage of John Wright, Jr."] kept after wife Nancy Purlee Wright died in 1844, indicates his stepmother [Margaret Davis Wright, 2nd wife of Amos Wright, Sr.] died "Then Saturday night at B.S [Bluff Springs, earlier identified in his Diary], and fifth Lords day at Jefferson School House, W. Co., on the funeral farewell of our stepmother. This was truly a tender meeting."
Using an 1844 calendar that can be found at http://www.hf.rim.or.jp/~kaji/cal/index.html the 'fifth Lords day' was 29 September 1844. As you know, in the early days, people were generally buried within a few short hours after death or at the latest, the next day. Margaret's death would have occurred [at the earliest] - either evening of 28th Sep or [at the latest] - on the 29th, in which case she would have died and been buried on same day. Not unusual.
