I am a retired firefighter living in Hocking County, Ohio. During the summer I teach archaeological field techniques at Hocking College. I've been interested in genealogy since I was a teenager and I'm eager to assist anyone needing lookups or grave photographs from this area.|

Was at the Armstrong Cemetery on September 13th, 2014. I noticed that Absalomís stone was reset back by the fence. Have not had a chance to talk to the trustees, but if this is the stone that was propped against the big tree, his grave was moved to Union Grove Cemetery at Canal Winchester, Ohio, several, several years ago. You can view his current stone and site on Find-A-Grave, also. His wife was Sarah Armstrong Guthrie. She was born Nov. 15, 1817 in Preston Co. VA (WV) and died Dec. 31st, 1901 in Canal Winchester, Ohio and is also buried at Union Grove.
They have three daughters buried there also.
My Dad was William Armstrong Primmer and he told the story many times about the grave being moved, and the stone being left, because a new stone was bought.
My Dadís Mother was Nellie Mabel Armstrong and she was married to William Albert Primmer.
I spent many hours of my childhood and adulthood at the cemetery, with the family working, before it was turned over to the township.
Hope to hear back from you....

Please put the same photo that you put on Serepta Martin (his wife) on his memorial. Thanks.

You being a member for over 5 years should know it's wrong to create a memorial for a person who is already there and has been since 2003

Hello Bob, I am a relative of Josephus Martin and I was wondering if it would be okay if I used his gravestone photo on my personal family tree?

I just sent you an email regarding the Stewart families, who were living in Athens County, Ohio.

You're welcome! I do have one correction for you. Daniel Stewart (1762-1858) is buried at the West State Street Cemetery, not the West Union Street Cemetery.

Thanks again Bob for directions and coordinates. In looking at Google Earth, it appears to be within the 200 feet you estimated.

I have been trying to find Armstrong Cemetery in Hocking County, Ohio without much success. I noted that you took a photo of the entry. Can you describe the location of the cemetery for me?
For example, distance to the nearest crossroads, or major landmark I might be able to identify on Google Earth. I have family members buried there and would like to know how to get there. The maps don't seem to show it.
