Elizabeth Anderson Wilkie
Hi, do you know where Elizabeth Anderson Wilkie's (# 38372445) first husband, William James Smitson, is buried? There daughter, Ida Ann Smitson Chaney (# 17930682), is my husband's grate grandmother on his mothers side. Thank you for your time.

Just found the "Smitson" grave....he was married to my Great-Grandmother Jenny Short. Do you have any further info? I'll send you a personal email with my address.

RE: Betsey Seely
You are very welcome Debbie. There were also two
other stones right next to Betsy which were spelled Seelye. One was Susan Seelye, the other Barna Seelye. I also added these pictures. Perhaps they are your husband's relatives also. Have a good day.

George Schoonover grave
According to the book written by Allen Gardiner, "Monumental Inscription from Jackson, County Kansas Cemeteries" the inscriptions were taken directly from tombstones for this cemetery. The stones were copied in Nov 1976 and then rechecked in September 1980. So there must have been a stone at that point.

Black Family Stones
The photo for Virginia is pretty clear, and I expect you can read most of it. It says:

"Virginia Alice" in the arch. Then below that "daughter of Wm. C & Margaret Black, Died September 1, 1851. Age 1 yr., 2 mos., 8 ds."

The stone for Mary Elizabeth is hard to read because of the discoloration.

Her name, "Mary Elizabeth" is in the arch. Then below the arch, "Daughter of Wm. C. & Margaret Black, Born Sept 10, 1855, Died Aug 15, 1856.

The next time I go up to New Hope, I will use aluminum foil on Mary's stone, and get a photo for you.
