Bio and Links
Bio Photo Robert Thomas "Bob" Leitner, b. 31 Aug 1924 in Lacoochee. Pasco Co., FL s/o John Proctor Leitner and Blanche Gertrude Connell. Grew up in Dade City and Plant City, FL. Learned the electrical trade from my Uncle Chan Miller and also worked in the theater business. Managed theaters in Lakeland and Arcadia, FL. Left theater business to work for Tampa Ship Building Company as an electrician. Drafted into Army for WWII. Two battle stars for European theater and combat infantry badge. While on way to Europe, met Pauline Davis in Baltimore, MD and we married on my return. After discharge from army, went to work for Glenn L. Martin Aircraft (now Lockheed-Martin) in Baltimore, MD. In mid 1950's, transferred by Martin to Orlando, FL as Plant Engineer for new Plant. In mid 1960's sent by Martin to design plant in Albuquerque, NM. Resigned from Martin and went to Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, MD as Facilities manager. Retired from Fairchild in mid 1980's and spent many happy years touring in a motorhome with my wife. My wife and I started our interest in genealogy from my cousin Fannie Bell Priest Kipp who research and issued a book, The Leitner Family In Florida, in the mid 1960's.
My wife passed away in 2003 and I remained in Maryland for several years. After open heart surgery in 2007 my son's family convinced me to relocate to Seneca, SC and be near them. Still in Seneca and working on genealogy. I guess it gets in your blood.

Callie and Susan
I've updated the two sites, 25567131 for Callie and 25567152 for Susan, per your information. Typo on Callie and didn't know about Susan. Sidenote about Callie - her father, Rev Shadrack "Whiteshade" Hancock has an interesting background to the nickname "Whiteshade". There is another Rev Shadrack at the same time and area, so to prevent confusion he was known as Rev Shadrack "Blackshade" - a reference to beard color. (Mine is brown with gray). Originally I thought the nickname might have been American Indian references.

Martha Northington McCrary
Thank you for your message. I originally entered the memorial and photo for Martha McCrary (#54382135) in Cox Cemetery after visiting there. I then did not pay close enough attention to your suggestions, which, unfortunately created an error. I have since rectified the confusion surrounding her; having found her proper place of burial, and connecting her with the proper family. Thanks again!

Martha Ann McCRARY
Hello - I am writing regarding information you submitted for Memorial #54382135. The note attributed to you reads: "I believe the birth date should be Jun 1826 for this memorial. This is shown on the headstone photo. If so, she is the wife of Gilley McCrary. Please add to the name as follows:

Name: Martha Ann Northington McCrary (Northington is maiden name)"

Could you please explain why you think the birth date of Jun 1826 on this monument makes this the grave of Martha Ann (NORTHINGTON) McCRARY ? The grave monument you alluded to clearly reads "MARTHA ANN / McCRARY / wife of / W. G. STEED / Born June 8 1826 / Died July 19 1868 / Aged 42 yrs 1 mo 11 dys" She is the daughter of Matthew McCRARY by his first wife Sarah J. (FLETCHER) McCRARY, and her birth date is confirmed in a transcription of records from the Bible of her brother, Matthew Thornton McCRARY.

I'm interested to find out what record, if any, indicates that Martha Ann (NORTHINGTON) McCRARY is buried at Cox Cemetery.

Thanks for your help! - John, Contributor #46870015
