"Who is this irresistible creature who has an insatiable love for the dead?" ~Edward di Lorenzo
Southern girl with a morbid fascination of genealogy
Taphophilia = an abnormal love for graves and cemeteries
My favorite burial ground is Magnolia Cemetery in the city of my birth, Beaumont, Texas. Eventually my remains will be buried there with my ancestors in the Bihn family plot.
Someday I hope to visit Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles, Cimetiere du Pere Lachaise in Paris, Highgate Cemetery in London, the Lycian Tombs in Turkey, Sedlec Ossuary in Prague, the Capuchin Catacombs in Palermo, Italy, and the hanging coffins of Sagada in The Philippines.
You can see which families I'm researching in my virtual cemeteries. However, I'm currently *most* interested in the following lines: BAKER / BICE / BIHN / CROW / DORSEY / HIMMELSBACH / McCREERY / McGARY / McGLAUN / MOORE / WARFIELD
I have included biographical stories for my family members whenever possible (because names and dates and places can get terribly boring). I believe my job as a genealogist is to make our family's history an interesting read and not an endless list of "begats" (as my mother calls it).
An ancient relative, Mary Powell Hammersmith, said more than once that we are no more responsible for our ancestors' misdeeds than we are for their accomplishments. My dear great aunt, Agnes Bihn Terry, said that we should never judge our ancestors; they lived in a different time than us and we don't know what times were like then or what kind of circumstances they faced.
***I am a single mother of THREE daughters. I occasionally take breaks from FindaGrave to concentrate on LIFE (and not DEATH), but I will get back to you, I promise!***
***I've realized that I'm horrible about listing my references, but if you send me a message, I'll try to tell you where I got my information.***
***PLEASE don't hesitate to correct me or request the transfer of an ancestor or other loved one by clicking "Edit" and then "Suggest a correction or provide additional information."***
(The dancing girl in the photo is the coolest lady I ever knew, my little grandma Marthagene Rutledge 1919-2003). I miss her SO much.

 | RE: John Warfield Sr John Warfield, Sr is my 8th great grandfather through his son Richard. Then through Richard's son Seth(6th great grandfather). My family them runs through Seth Jr then Seth the III. Seth the III had a son named Charles H. Warfield who is my 3rd great grandfather. I guess we are distant cousins. How does your family tree run? | Question Hello: The Fisher family were ancestors of mine as well. May I have your permission to copy the photo of the grave marker of Emily Jane Fisher Thomason and Joshua Allen Thomason to my tree in ancestry.com ? I will gladly credit you as the photographer. Thank you very much. - B. MacBeanAdded by MacBean on May 31, 2013 12:29 PM | | | Barry Boecher

 | RE: Raymond Hutchinson Baker I sent another message, but she never responded to me either. I did want to let you know that I passed on the message. I don't know if she'll respond or not. Also, I photographed some grave markers in Ennis TX, at the Myrtle Cemetery in Ellis county with the last name of McGrary, are these some you're doing research on? If so, I'll get back with you once I get a memorial established. I have a couple of hundred more photos & not sure how long it will take. Hope you have a happy & safe memorial weekend! | | | msb
 | Col. John Dorsey (Maryland) Hello - according to the "The Dorsey Family of Maryland" book, page 7 and other pages, state that Col. John Dorsey, born June 15, 1688, was married to Honor STAFFORD, not Honor Elder. She signed some documents "Honor Sta..." and after their research, the Dorsey family accepts that her last name was Stafford. Of course in various other family F.A.G. cross referenced links, the "Elder" is in error the same way. I would suggest an across the board change. On the other hand, Michael Dorsey Jr. (II) married Honor Elder, who died in 1818 (page 55 footnote). In error, Warfield in his book, "Founders of Anne Arundel and Howard Counties," misstated that Michael Dorsey II married thrice-married Honor Howard Wilkins. Again, Michael did not. Thanks for your attention to this.

 | RE: Raymond Hutchinson Baker Raymond Baker is the grandfather of two of my cousins. I have passed this information along to the Granddaughter of Raymond Baker, I hope you can make your connection.
Imelda Ann was more of a mother to me than my own mother, I think of her often & miss her dearly.
