I love the history of cemeteries. Where ever I go, I love to stop at them and look around, visit, and find the history. I would like to help this site out, and now that I am in WA I may look and see what I can do to help other families find and remember their loved ones.

Jerry and Roger
Buster Brown, Woodlawn Mem Park, Compton
Sharon, I wanted to contact you to let you know that myself and two other Find A Grave volunteers was at Woodlawn today and based on maps, markers and information from cemetery office we were only able to pin point the area where Buster is buried. It is an unmarked grave and after this message I will upload the photos of the area where we believe he is buried. We are very sorry that there was no actual marker to identify his name and dates. There were no similar last names surrounding him. Best regards, Jerry and the Woodlawn Volunteers.

Western State Cemetery
Welcome to the area.
Western state cemetery can be difficult at times. If you need help let me know. I am very familiar with the cemetery.
Also you might consider helping this organization.
We are working to restore the cemetery, and add headstones to the graves. It is a volunteer organization that relies on community support and donations to accomplish its goals.

Hi there
I saw you claimed a bunch of photos for Old Tacoma and saw you just moved into the area. Glad to have another local that loves doing this volunteer work.

I've been documenting the cemetery with a few others over the summer. I still have a bunch of photos to memorialize and/or post the photos to memorials as I took a slew of photos in several sections. Therefore I may contact you in the future should you nab a photo request and I happen to have the photo that I need to post up still. Unfortunately I don't get email notifications for Old Tacoma so I have to check manually. :/

I headed up a group of local gravers last year to tackle Mountain View. It's getting there, but still has sections that need photo documention. Same for Old Tacoma. If you would like to do a section yourself, feel free to email me at and I'll give you details.
