November, 2016
I will have limited computer access during November. I will make all updates as time allows.
* * * * *

Recently had my DNA tested and it verified that I am almost 50/50 Finnish and Irish heritage.

When I walk a cemetery, I make a note of other nearby relatives, the section/area I am in and include it in my transcriptions. When you are researching a 'John Smith', it helps to know if there are other 'Smith' names next to him.
Some cemeteries restrict photo taking by non-family members. Having any plot information helps all of the photo volunteers.
When I first started, I just wrote down names without photos. Now I take photos of all of the headstones.

Quite often I find myself researching the folks that I create memorials for, adding additional information and linking as many as I can locate.

I will make corrections/additions to any memorial that I have created.

All requests are verified before I change the memorial.

Jean Hashagen of San Francisco
Ann, glad you were intrigued by Jean's family stone. Jean, her brother George who passed away in Mexico, their ashes are interred inside the casket of their mother Helen. The two names, Skippy & Danny also imprinted on the stone, are Jean's beloved dog's ashes that she wished interred with her when she passed. The mortuary in San Mateo that handled all Jean's arrangements, were very pleased to add Jean's little companion's ashes mixed with Jean's for burial together again.

There had never been any type of marker or monument for their grave site, so when Jean passed, we decided & designed a stone, in dark green with the white lettering & flourish, to include all who were at last, together for eternity....even the little companions. Thank you for your compliments.

81110283 double photo
Hi, one of your photos posted twice to this memorial, would you mind deleting one? This is a glitch in Findagrave. Thanks!

Would you mind removing the photo of the funeral home marker? This memorial has a lovely marker now. Thanks.

RE: Addition
Thanks!
Olaf (Olof) #36611584 was my grandfather's maternal uncle.
Do you allow me to use your photo of the grave in a possible forthcoming booklet or website for my relatives?

RE: Military rank on memorials
With all due respect, if you look at Willamette National Cemetery, for example, you will find that the only memorials with rank listed follow military guidelines. That's how it works. Obviously, wartime cemeteries full of field casualties list almost everyone with rank, because they died while in service, as per the guidelines. Check the Findagrave forums for discussions of this topic and you will find that this is correct. I would appreciate it if you would look into it a bit more and reconsider. Thanks!

Corrections of Barnes family links
Hi,

I think you have got two families intermixed that should be separate. The memorials involved are Afton Schafer #159955179, Thora Boyd #169793394, and Jack Ross Barnes # 145548825. I can give you the correct information. Would you please email me?
