I have taken my YDNA, and have joined the Hawkins Worldwide DNA Project. I'm the group administer for group #10. So far, most of my Ancestors and their Decedents are from North Carolina. To see this Hawkins Family YDNA test results, Family Trees and pictures, go to the site below.

I encourage all members of this Family to tie your deceased ancestors and their decedents to findagrave.com so that we may link all of our family members together.
Being the Administer for this Hawkins Family group #10 in the Worldwide YDNA Hawkins Project. I will transfer all direct ancestors "in find a grave" that I have possession of over to the qualified participant of the Hawkins YDNA Project.
I believe that everyone should have the right of ownership for their direct ancestors in find a grave. Of course this will be based on a first come service, and all others shearing the same direct ancestors will be linked through your tree.
I'm trying very hard to link all individuals of this Hawkins Family together along with their allied families, to find a grave.

Jim,
I was wondering if you would consider transferring the memorial in Oakwood Confederate Cemetery to me? He is a cousin of mine. I have an exact birth date and the correct death date for him as well as a bit of history on him. I plan on going to Oakwood tomorrow to get a photo of his headstone to post on his memorial.

I was at Oakwood Cemetery again two days ago to make another picture for someone else. I decided to try again for Margaret Hawkins. I went to the office and had them to pinpoint exact area in the section where she is located. I searched. I know she is there but there's definitely no headstone or anything else to identify her grave. | | | pale saint

You're most welcome. I'm assuming that James Hawkins is inside the mausoleum? Eugene and Elizabeth were on the outside walls but the building itself was locked so could not get inside. Jim, I have walked the section site several times and I cannot find the grave for Ms Hawkins. Sorry. If you put up another request maybe someone will accept it and be able to find it. Her location is section A #178. Do you think it's possible that a perm marker was never place at her grave? | | | Billy Brown

Am having difficulty finding grave of Paul Victor "Vick" Hawkins. He is listed at Mountain View in Greer, SC. I have a copy of the owners of the cemetery lots but have visited every one listed as owned by Hawkins and cannot find Paul Victor. Can you give other information that will make it possible to locate his grave?

Hey Jim, I was not able to find a marker for Douglas Hawkins at Lowndes Hill. I was able to find a few more Hawkins at both Lowndes Hill and Woodlawn that you did not request. I don't know if they were listed on these sites or not. Either way I will be adding the pictures as soon as I finish with the cemetery that I am working on now. Keep a look out for them. AH Hawkins does not have a marker in the Mordecai A11 section at Oakwood. I double checked and I am sure I got all the Hawkins' in that family plot. I did not see AH.
As for William and Minnie in the Beechwood J2 1/2 section, Catherine's is there by itself. There was plenty of room next to her, but no other Hawkins markers.
And finally... as for Dallas Hawkins in the Confederate Cemetery, I could not find him either. The sections are not marked. Only Divisions are marked. I found 3 markers numbered as #137 in different Divisions, but none of them were Dallas.
Sorry I couldn't find these last few. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

You're very welcome Jim, I enjoyed doing it. FYI - there's a Faye Mial (b. 4/14/1950 d. 12/19/2005 resting next to Vivian with a similar stone that reads "Granny". I still have a few more to upload. I stayed up way to late last night :). It's easy to lose track of time. Hope to get some others up today. I also found several more Hawkins that were not requested (Virginia, Little Mary) as well as some Andrews' that were in the Hawkins family plot. I enjoyed taking your pictures. Oakwood is a beautiful place.
