Bio Photo Hi
I live in Missouri and been doing Genealogy research since 1979. My aunt got me started. I have done my share of walking through cemeteries. It always amazies me how much history is in each one.

The families I am researching are Cheesebrough, Chandler, Butterfield, Steffee, Langelier, Littler, Childers, Halstead, Holman, Smith, Patterson and so many more that it would be a long list.
I will help anyone looking for information in the Kansas City, Missouri area for information as we have a wonderful Genealogy Library here and also a branch of the National Archives.

Happy cemetery listing.
Thanks

Thank you for the information on William Colby. I made a memorial for him and linked him to his mother. I appreciate your kind help with this!

Hi Audrey,
The Mount Tamalpais cemetery kept good records and they are the source for the information given. In addition, the cause of death was cancer of the stomach.

As for an obit, check out this website:

Good luck,

You may want to remove one of the listings for the above person as you have a duplicate.

Which two memorials specifically are you speaking of?

RE: Mary C (Patterson) Hutchings
Audrey, Following is all I have on Mary C. and her family.

The 1860 Census for St. Francois co., Liberty Ward, MO. reads as:
John Patterson is 41, born in 1811, in Ohio and is an Iron Master (which might mean blacksmith)
Sarah F. is 29, wife, born 1831 in PA
Andrew 3 is 10 born in 1850 son, VA
Mary is 9, born 1851, dau, born in MO
Jennie is 7, born 1853, dau, born VA
James is 5, born 1855, son born MO
Sarah L. is 2, born 1858, dau, born MO

In the 1870 census for St. Francois Co., Mary C. is working as a house servant in the Byrd family. She is 19. The Bryd family is surrounded on all sides by Pattersons, Hollands, Hutchings and Piggs! Even Clark Pleasant who's son marries Laura Lee Hutchings is in the neighborhood. I don't know how I missed all these connections living so close together! I bet the Deloney's are just down the road too!

I've tried to find them after 1860 but failed except for Mary C.---Maybe they went back to Virginia or Pennsylvania if something happened to John. It's possible Sarah died and he married Jane Andrews and had McAnally Andrew Patterson who was born Oct. 1867 in St. Francois Co. and married Alice Louise Covington on Dec. 31, 1888. Alice died April 6, 1950. The Covington's married into the Pigg family and Dicy Hutchings married James E. Pigg....But so far I haven't been able to confirm that the two Johns are the same Johns. (Note: these are not the same John's but likely relatives somehow.)

Audrey Grayson, a granddaughter of Rosette Lee Hutchings Reddick says that the family traveled back and forth to Virginia and Ohio on the trains. As a blacksmith or iron worker, John would have made a good income and could afford traveling back for family help in birthing the children or just wanting to show the babies off.

Mary's Father is John Patterson born 1818 in Ohio and her mother is Sarah F. Unknown born 1831 in PA. (I suspect they were married in VA.)

Mary had the following siblings:
Andrew born 1850 in VA
Mary Charlotte born 9 Oct.1852 in VA--13 Deb 1898 SFC, MO
Jennie born 1853 in VA
James born 1855 in MO
Sarah L. born 1855 in MO

Following prepared by Hazel O. Willa: Geological outline of Hutchings Family 1963. Provided by Diane Hutchings to Mary Hutchings Taylor in March 2000.

THE RICHARD HUTCHINGS BIBLE

Records from the Richard Hutchings Bible show that Richard was born in Robertson County, Tennessee on April 22, 1811. He married Mahala Holland at her father's home in Robinson County in 1832. The Rev. Benjamin Jackson performed the ceremony and Burre and Sadelia Gregory were the witnesses.

Richard and Mahala Hutchings came to St. Francois County, Missouri in 1843 and settled on a farm in Marion Township where they reared their family and lived out their lives.

Richard Hutchings became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1856 and his wife joined this church in 1854.

Richard Hutchings passed away on November 30, 1886, and his wife on July 1st 1886. Both were buried in the old family graveyard on their farm.

The following children came to bless this union.

Dicy Hutchings born May 23rd 1833
Mary Margaret Hutchings born December 8th 1835
John Baker Hutchings born February 12th 1838
Francois Marion Hutchings born April 9, 1842
Virginia Ann Polk Hutchings born May 29th 1844
William Richard Hutchings born June 1st 1847
George Washington Hutchings born September 10th 1851.

The above records were compiled by Richard Hutchings in the year of 1872. After the death of Mahala and Richard Hutchings their heirs sold the old home place to a Mr. Beeny Snyder. The owner at the present time is Mrs. Emanuel Peterson. There have been many descendants of Richard and Mahala Hutchings and in the following pages I will outline the records that has been researched concerning the descendants of each of Richard and Mahala Hutchings children.

NOTE: Bible Records has been posted to my Hutchings Site.
