Bio and Links
Bio Photo My husband, brothers, sisters and I have been do family research for many years. Nothing is more exciting than finding that little tidbit to add to the "puzzle" of an ancestor's life. Many of our cemetery photos are family members, but some are just interesting or of "possible" family. We research our Gentry, Etherton, Quick, Parks surnames and would appreciate any information our "cousins" can provide.

RE: Henry H Snyder -Slatedale Cem
Before the name was spelled Snyder it was spelled Schneider. Have you looked for this spelling?

RE: R. F. Etherton
Thanks for your reply. Reuben F Etherton is a brother to my great great grandmother, America Elizabeth Etherton Frick. I was told she went to live with him and his family and may have been buried in the same cemetery as he is. However I have no proof of that. Yes you did have a photo of his headstone on the memorial. I was wondering if that was the government issued stone. It probably is. Thanks again

R. F. Etherton
RE: R.F. Etherton, Poplar Church Cemetery, Gallatin Co, IL.
My great-great grandmother was a sister to Reuben F. Etherton. I found a record on Ancestry: Headstones Provided for Deceased Union Civil War Veterans, 1879-1903. It lists Reuben F. Etherton, Pvt. Co K, 6 Ill Cav. Died Feb 21, 1893, Cemetery Fountain Head, Elba, Ill. Provided by Lee Marble Works, Contract June 10, 1903. I wonder if this cemetery was later named Poplar Church? Are you familiar with a Fountain Head Cemetery in that area? I can find no listing anywhere in Illinois with the Fountain Head name. Thank You, Cathie

David Kight
Amanda Endicott Kight was the wife of Ezekiel Kight. Her grave is recorded but I can find no record of his anywhere. The 1880 Census has him living in Gallatin County, IL but I don't know when he died or where for sure. I'm curious if by any chance his grave would be with Amanda's. They would be my Great Great Great grandparents. There is an Ezekiel Kight who died in 1841 and was buried in Posey County, IN but he would be this Ezekiel's father.

Another thought.
McLean Co was formed in 1854 from parts of Ohio Co., Daviess Co., and Muhlenberg Co. Before 1854 you have to look in those Counties. Even though they might not have ever moved and might have died in Mclean Co. before 1854 their records would have been in another co. Maybe that is why they are not showing up in Mclean Co.

There is only one Butler in the McLean Co 1860 Census. Levina {Nee}Butler Welsh 44 husband William Welsh with four children. No Butlers in the 1870 or 1880 McLean Co Census.
McLean Co. marriages
A Binea Butler married a Columbus Harris Oct 4 1896
a Delma B Butler married a Kenneth Hutchins Sept 16 1959
a James Melvin married a Dorothy Dawson July 9 1941

I looked on the Family Search site and did not see any that I thought might be them. They are early for the Census to pick them up.

I found where Katherine Tinkle, daughter of Nicholas and Polly Karnes Tinkle died in McLean Co, Ky Feb. 4 1860.

I will keep looking, and let you know if I find anything. You do have a hard one.
