According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy."

Thank you so much for transferring my Great Great Grandmother to me. My mother and I used to discuss her as I did my research on her, and I developed a great admiration for her ability to cope with all the changes in her life and endure. My grandmother also spoke of her with admiration as a widow journeying to Missouri from Ohio in a covered wagon, and research proved my grandmother's memory and recitation of place and certain events correct. I must say I doubted....but searched and found!

Shorty and Lil Swanson
I knew both Shorty and Lil. He was a "sometimes" ranch hand on my dads ranch. If help was needed Shorty was the one to call. Lil many times came out to the ranch and helped my mom with her cooking chores. They were wonderful folks. I believe I have some photos of them kept safely by my mom in a "boot box"!
Shorty made unique leather gloves. They had not just the thumb but also the first finger. Easier to do ranch chores with those gloves!

Just posted a photo today at Calcutta Cemetery, Clay County, Indiana. The stone has a different year of birth. I also linked Mary Behymer Clark to her husband. I noticed the Butler name for Mary, so I guess she was married before. The 1860 US Census, Van Buren, Clay, Indiana lists three Butlers ( William H; Alonzo H; and Mary). Alonzo Butler (Mar 11, 1844 - Apr 4, 1910) is also buried in Calcutta Cemetery.

(Sorry, I hit the return without message). Also I apologize for not being clear about the new connection. I have just now contacted the maker of the James P Estes memorial and requested that person to connect the wife. So the new husband listing may or may not already be in place when you access the Memorial. When I was very small, Grandma Ethel Barngrover Glass would tell me again and again that her grandmother (Naomi Ellen Padgett Barngrover) came to Downing, Missouri, and married a man names Estes. I did not know enough about genealogy to find the record over the years, and began to believe it was a "tale." A few years ago I saw an index that had him listed with of course her name misspelled, and now I located the marriage. Grandma Ethel Barngrover Glass in her 80's could and would stand and recite long poems she had learned in school, which was and is still amazing to me when I can hardly remember where I put my keys! She also attended a German sewing school when she was young in Brown County, Ohio, and sewed her dresses without patterns. She called them the Holland Dutch, which I now believe she meant the Holland Deutch (Germans from Holland). She was very small and very fiesty, in the way that I can imagine her grandmother, Naomi, was.

Sincerely,
Jane McClure Jeffries

This is ANOTHER husband in addition to the two connected to her who she married in between the first and the last. I thought you might want to add him: James Preston Estes Find A Grave Memorial# 33104845. She divorced him and was not widowed. She had married James B Callison by 1900. Estes did not die until 1904.

Sincerely,

Barngrover request
If as you noted for his daughter that the cemetery has no listing for a Barngrover, and I did call them and they do not show any, and Walter died in Hawaii why did you build a memorial and request a photo for him at RNC?

Cateyntie DeBoog Beekman
I am extremely interested in the painting you have posted for Cateyntie DeBoog Beekman. Would you be able to tell me any other information about it? Do you know where the original is kept? A museum in New York I would expect. Is it dated? Many thanks!
