The Mayflower Society requires proof that you're BLOOD related to the first sailing of the Mayflower pilgrims who landed in 1620. You have to provide documentation such as birth, marriage, death certificates through the generations dating back to 1620. You don't have to prove before that back to England. All this information is out there and can be found at all government locations in all States...courthouses, city halls etc. Those places that have the birth, death, marriage etc. records. There are no birth, death or marriage certificates per se back in Massachusetts where they landed but the county DOES HAVE records of such events they will send you certified copies of...that's how I did it. You have to be a direct blood line....not through cousins or anything like that. I.E. - Francis Cooke is my 11th grandfather. Good luck and give it a try.

I encourage your family to join the Mayflower Society if one of you can prove through documentation that you are BLOOD related to Wm Bradford. I've done it. I'm related to TWO original Mayflower pilgrims.

I can not add a son (Clayburn). We can only add Mom and Dad or wife husband. You will have to contact Virginia on Clayburn's memorial and ask her to add his father.
|Virginia Brown||Louisa E Hayes Berry|
Thanks for providing Louisa's name. With this information I was able to research the family & add a little to the bios of her & her husband. I have given you credit at the bottom of her memorial.

You're so very welcome!!

I realized as soon as I sent my msg. that I should have directed it to the person "jumping the gun"!! That person apparently is quite new to Find A Grave so I'll just let it go .... I wasn't upset at anyone! :o)

Out of curiosity: How did another person fill your request if it had been already claimed by me? I'm not interested in keeping track of how many photos/requests that I fulfill ... it's that the basic reason Find A Grave "assigns" a request to the claimant is to avoid duplication of effort. For a couple of reasons, I had to make 3 trips to the Mausoleum to take that photo ..... I could have saved ..... let's see .... 63 miles on the visits there (21 miles r/t x 3).
