RE: Osgood
the reference to a "flagholder" means the device to hold a flag. See my id photo to the left of this message, that is what a flagholder is. There were many different shapes but this is the one common for NE Michigan. So, Osgood was not a flagholder, nor was any soldier. His gravesite has the device to hold a small American flag which I placed there in 2013. thanks.

Regarding our recent post of additional information "He was a flag holder for the GRAND ARMY of the REPUBLIC Post-125; Department-Michigan."

The Grand Army of the Republic was a post civil war veterans organization. A flag holder is a metal device that holds a small American flag.
IF a GAR flagholder is on a veterans grave he may or may not be a member of a GAR post. Only the official roster of that post would determine his membership.

RE: Simon Freer
Ok, that sounds fine. It's good to know that a family member is taking care of the memorial. We must be long lost cousins

I have transfered management of Ira and his daughter Lora to you. I do not have management of Mary, Ira's wife.

Latvala - Edgewood Cemetery
Have searched for your Latvala requests. Was able to find records on some. The plot has only a family stone, no individual names. Would you like me to post it?
