double listing
Rev Givens is double listed. Yours seems to have more information. You might want to contact the other listing owner about combining data and deleting one of them.

{from Highfill} We are sorry to report the death of Uncle John Givens who died at the home of his daughter, Ellis, in Missouri. The remains were brought to Mason Valley Church Monday where funeral services were held Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Coffelt pastor of the church, and F.E. Rice of Springdale, former pastor, as per the expressed wish of the deceased, he having made the request that the latter have a part in the services when he passed away; also a number of songs selected by the deceased a number of years prior to his death. Uncle John had been a member of the Mason Valley church for a period of almost forty-eight years. A large number of sorrowing relatives and friends were in attendances to pay their last respects to the departed. The sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved ones.

GIVNES, John John Givens, a resident of the Cave Springs and Highfill communities for 73 years, died at the home of his daughters, Mrs. Etta Bennett in Lebanon, Mo. Saturday, February 16, 1929 at the advanced age of 89 years. He had been in ill health for some time with influenza and pneumonia. The body was returned here for burial which took place Monday afternoon in the cemetery at Highfill following the funeral services preceding it at the Mason Valley church. Uncle John, as he was familiarly called, was born in Monroe county, Tenn. Nov. 6, 1839. He came to Benton county with his parents in 1855 who located on Butler creek north of Sulphur Springs on the state line, part of the farm being in each state. In 1860 he married Miss Frankie Wilkerson of that community and at the outbreak of the Civil War joined the Confederate army. His grandfather was a Revolutionary soldier. Following the war he located near Highfill where he engaged in farming. A number of years ago he gave up farming and moved to Cave Springs. Since last June he has made his home with his daughter in Lebanon. He is survived by four sons, John of Amarillo, Texas; Pleas of Ellinwood, Kansas; I. Jay, whose address is unknown; Jim of Centerton and Mack of Highfill {five sons named}; also by one daughter, Mrs. Etta Bennett of Lebanon, Mo.

Butler Creek Cemetery Requests- Givens
I have photographed about 1/3 of the cemetery, however, I have been unable to drive since early Nov., and we are in an ice storm right now. As soon as weather permits, my husband will take me to get more photos, but it may be several weeks or longer before I can fulfill requests.

I'm going from memory here so please forgive my bad memory.
From Hwy 70-71 East of DeQueen, turn left on Stover Rd. (abt 6 miles from DeQueen). Stay on this til Crosstrails Rd., turning right on Crosstrails Rd. Don't remember how far but you'll come to an intersection (I think it's Summer Rd.). The cemetery is on the right at this intersection.
If this doesn't work let me know and I'll make a trip back out there and write directions down this time.

You're welcome.
Do you know who else is buried there? Any Parkers? John's daughter, Susan, married William Parker. I'm hoping to find the burial of him or his father, Jasper Columbus Parker.
