I am a retired elementary school teacher and administrator. I am very passionate about genealogy and the history of Western North Carolina and Blount/Monroe Counties of Tennessee. I will be happy to share photographs from local cemeteries here in the Crabtree/Iron Duff area of Haywood County, NC.|
If you have time, I would appreciate your paying a visit to the memorial for my brother David Edwards Nichols, Metz Cemetery, Graham County, NC. David passed away on February 17, 2012. He was an avid genealogist and took many photos of stones for Find A Grave, as well as located pictures of individuals so I could post them. I have many more to post because he worked much faster than I. He's in Heaven now, and knows the answers to many of the questions I still have about our ancestors--always a step ahead of me. Thank you.
David Edward Nichols

Hi Ms. Rogers l
I was wondering if Calvin Colvard and his wife are related to me. Both my grandparents are Joe Newin Colvard and his wife Lizzie Jane Phillips Colvard . Are they related to Carvin Collard?
Can please let me know,

Hi Frances, Thank you for leaving flowers and notes for my Byrd family members. I really appreciate it. You are right about my grandmother, Mary Odella Johnson Byrd - she was a wonderful grandmother and I still miss her. She was the only grandmother that I knew as my Mother's mother died at an early age. Thanks for being so kind to take the time to leave flowers and notes. Take care.

Hi Frances: Hope you are doing well. I am forwarding this to you as I never knew Ms. Johnson until she was in her 90's & did not talk much. Do you know anything about her, she lived with John Lequire. Thanks, Betty
Stan Johnson[Send Reply] RE: Evie Johnson
Evie's maiden name was Holmes and I think she may have been originally from Oglethorpe County - Georgia. She was married to my Great Grandfather Robert Ellis Johnson- also from Oglethorpe County. It is a mystery to our family as to how they ended up in the Robbinsville, NC area. Robert died in 1946 and is buried at the Old Mother Church in Robbinsville. After Robert died, Evie moved in with John Lequire-- they never married as far as I know. I do know that my Great Grandfather was about 30 years older than Evie! Do you know anyone that may have pictures of her? I've talked with Darlene Crisp about her, but I haven't heard back from her recently. I would like to find out more about her if possible. Thanks for getting back to me. I look forward to hearing from you again. By the way I live in Athens, Georgia and will be making a trip back to Robbinsville in the coming weeks! I was there on September 19th and found Evie's grave.
Yes, I am very proud of my heritage - including my great great grandmother, who was Cherokee. In three weeks we will have a ceremony for my great grandfather, William Isaac Forrester, who was a CSA soldier. We will be dedicating the Southern Iron Cross for him. The more I search my ancestry, the more I am proud of who I am and where I came from. Take care.

Hi Frances, thank you for the flowers and kind note you left on my Dad's brother's grave marker. My family never forgot him and although I never knew him in person, he lives on in my heart. I can't help but wonder how alone he must have felt so far away from those "red hills of Georgia". Surely he felt the love from his family. Thanks again.

|Stacie Burkhalter||McCracken Family|
Do you know anything of a Elleander "Nellie" McCracken born ant 1821 in Habersham GA, on Ancestry.com it connects her to Cass and Sarah but there is no mention of her as their child in your list. Any help would be great.
