|Jody A. Ferrell||Photo request for Peter Mason Toney|
You requested a photo for Peter Mason Toney at the Wirt Toney/Patterson Ferrell Cemetery. I completed the findagrave entry for that Cemetery and he is not buried there. According to his death certificate he is buried at the Toney Cemetery at Toney. I am planning on visiting that soon and if his grave is marked I will post that photo for you.

Hi! Just now saw your message. Actually, the road to the Saunders Cemetery on Ranger Ridge is in good shape. My car has made it out there several times with no issue.

Thank you. No, I don't know where grandma Arminta is buried, however I have looked and looked. My uncle Bill said he received a phone call from either a funeral home or Corp of Engineers about moving her grave due to the East Lynn dam project many years ago. She was buried at Armilda and the Morris Funeral Home was to handle the removals and reinterrments. The graves were supposedly moved to the big cemetery ( can't think of the name right now) in East Lynn, but I have contacted Morris Funeral Home as well as the cemetery office and can't find any record for her. She is bound to have been buried in East Lynn somewhere or how did they locate my uncle Bill, her grandson, to give his permission to move her ? How are you related ?

There is a Lick Creek in Wayne County, located at East Lynn River, south of Huntington. There is no Rice Cemetery listed in Wayne County Genealogy Society records, however, there is an Adkins cemetery on Lick Creek near East Lynn Lake. And there is a Rice Branch Road also nearby, which may be what you are looking for. To get to Rice Branch Road, from I-64 take the Route 52/75 exit (should be the first one after you cross the river into West Virginia from Kentucky) and bear right (south). Immediately start watching for Route 75 (on the left) and take it to Spring Valley. At Spring Valley turn onto Route 7 (Buffalo Creek) on the right. Go past Buffalo Middle School and watch for Rice Branch Road on the right. It may be that there is a cemetery in this area, and it goes by a different name than Rice. If you plan on going to Lick Creek Road from here, follow Route 7 back out of Buffalo Creek to Route 75 at Spring Valley. Turn right and take 75 to the junction at Route 152/5th Street Road in the town of Lavalette and turn right (south) onto 152. Follow 152 thru Lavalette and when you get to the town of Wayne, look for a left turn (south) onto Route 37, probably marked East Lynn Lake. Take Route 37 thru the town of East Lynn, continue south and look for Lick Creek Road on your left. I am unsure of exactly where the cemetery might be, and Lick Creek Road splits into left and right forks - your best bet would be to stop and ask a neighbor. Just for your information, when the gov't built East Lynn Lake, they moved a bunch of graves that were in smaller cemeteries in that area to Community Memorial Gardens, which you will drive past between Wayne and East Lynn on Route 37. So if you had family in this area of Wayne County, they may have been moved to this newer cemetery. And these are winding, country roads, so be careful. And there are 2 Rice Cemeteries located immediately across the river on the Kentucky side, so you may want to check those also. Good luck with your hunt!
Just to let you know, I don't know what your connection to Boone County is, but we have many Mitchells here. And I see you were looking for a Nettie McKinney - there is a McKinney cemetery on Lick Creek in Danville, here in Boone County. You may find some relatives here.

Wayne county is south of Huntington, which is about an hour from where I am in Boone County. I don't know where Lick Creek in Wayne county would be, but I'll look and let you know if I find it.
