MOH Richard P. Hanley Findagrave Memorial
Dear Neal,

I want to say thank you for sponsoring the Findagrave memorial for Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Richard P. Hanley of the 7th US Cavalry. I also want you to know that a gravestone image for him was added this weekend. The inscription on the gravestone leaves no doubt that he is indeed the Medal of Honor soldier. Also I want you to know that the sponsorship of his memorial will keep it from being listed as famous. Now this is fine with me because once it is made famous, Findagrave takes over and will edit the hell out of it for any images or text that they feel might be under copyright. Also we will lose the ability to easily add or subtract to it. I plan to inform the Congressional Medal of Honor Society of Hanley's grave so that it will receive official Govt. recognition. In so doing it is very likely that then Findagrave will be informed by the Society and the memorial will be absorbed into a previous famous memorial for Hanley that does not know his grave location. All the neat stuff that we have added and your sponsorship will be gone. I feel that it is more important that Hanley receives the recognition that he deserves than whether our memorial stands on Findagrave. Yes, I'll be disappointed and it won't be the first Medal of Honor listing heisted from me. I just wanted you to have a heads up and we will see how the Hanley Findagrave memorial shakes out into the future.

Best regards,

You're welcome. There was another Thomas Rowland headstone that wasn't listed, that I added. Would this be his son? If you want management, I'll be glad to transfer to you. Bev

Neal I sent you a email today but am not sure it went through. Tried calling the phone number you sent but it only goes to an answering machine. Talked to Miami County reporter today. I updated the memorial information with new data. Let me know if you got the email. Thanks

Thank you so very much for finding his burial place. I had all but given up hope of anyone finding it. I have added other information under his memorial bio - on what little I know of his 1812 service. Don't know if that will help as all I have is research and the Department of Interior info. Let me know if you find out anything. Doesn't this cemetery have any files as to who is buried there? Also may I use your headstone picture on my family tree? I always give credit to Find a Grave and to the photographer.
