Interested in what you know about the Mitchum family. My Gr-Gr-Great Grandfather was James Royal Riley Mitchum. It would be really nice to talk to you. When you have time, please drop me a line!

We have camped at Angel's Landing & Black's Fish Camp both are which are at the upper end of the lake close to Division Canal. We also camp a lot at Short Stay, Joint Base Charleston Recreation Center at the lower end of the lake near the dam & the lock.
We have also camped at Rock's Pond, which is the closest to Church Island on Lake Marion but not in awhile. Also have camped at Santee State Park.
We had not been able to do a lot of camping or jet skiing over the last 2 years. I was diagnosed with Padgett's breast cancer 2 years ago in July. The dr.'s got it all with the 1st surgery, no chemo or radiation, but had some complications with reconstruction. Between Aug 2012 & Nov 2013, I had 7 surgeries.
Now my husband is retired, my health is much better and we have more time to do the things we like
Of course, he isn't as exited as I am to go photograph cemeteries, but he doesn't complain.

AS you are looking at the cemetery from the lake, it is on the right side, more to the back of middle. If that made any sense. The grass was in some places almost knee high. I took a piece of drift wood with me so I could sweep in front of me, just in case there were any snakes. I also sprayed bug spray all over me. I have a picture of the cemetery looking from the lake if you would like me to send it to you. I took several overall shots. We also had to watch out for fire ants.

I hope I will be able to fulfill your photo request. My husband & I are going camping on Lake Moultrie this weekend. I hope that we will be able to go up to Lake Marion and go to Church Island and finish photo'ing the rest of the tombstones.

I would like your permission to use the tombstone photograph for Robert James Kirk and his wife Eleanor Mary Oliver. I would be using this photo in my tree on Ancestry.com and would of course give you the credit.
With kind regards,
