I am retired and enjoying genealogy, old tube radio restoration, and collecting same. Passing on genealogical information to my grandchildren!|
I view going to the cemetery and taking pictures of gravestones as a service. You may use my photos of gravestones for genealogy purposes. Please credit me at Find a Grave.

Art, Tombstone photos are on above sites in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Enterprise, Ks. If you desire these sites, I will transfer to you. Richard.
The date on the memorial is noted as burial date. The article stated he died a week ago but didn't state exactly which date in the previous week. Was it EXACTLY 7 days previous or just sometime that previous week? That's why I didn't change the date as listed.

Hi Art.. Its some kind of Wierd Find A Grave Thing. ALL People with parents and siblings listed are listed as "siblings of themselves" with their name "greyed out". Looks kinda wierd I agree but thats how Find A Grave did it.

Oh, babies and children. Wow, is this why in general we often have such a hard time finding the final resting places of the very young? She is not a relative of mine and given that age, I'm not at all sure now where she fits in with the research I'm helping someone else do, as we were thinking she's someone who was born around 1860. Which she clearly was not. Thank you for this additional information... do you think your findings would be appropriate to share on Lydia's memorial page?

Thank you for trying, Art. You discovered some important info that explains why there's no headstone and no birth date. Appreciate your attempt to photo her gravesite. Lee

I was going on the idea of "keep the first memorial created," but if you would like to keep this memorial active, let me know and I'll contact the owner of the other memorial instead.
Concerning the dates: as it turns out, there are obituaries published in 1893 that verify that Matthew died in that year -- so I was surprised to see that his tombstone appeared to say otherwise.
But looking closely, you can see that the final digit has an indent on its right side, which makes it more likely to be a "3" than a "9".
The top loop still makes it look very "9"-ish, but there's an indication that this is a glitch in the photo: the part that closes the loop and seems to make it a 9 instead of a 3 extends out farther than the digit itself, so it's very likely an artifact of some kind.
