Barnabas Horton inscription
Greetings, Steve!

Thanks for your message. The gravestone inscription on Barnabas Horton's page is the original version, in which many of the words, including "assend" instead of ascend, "aboad" instead of abode, and "pertake" instead of partake, reflect the non-standard spellings of the colonial era. The original inscription can be accessed at this link:
When Dr. G.F. Horton compiled a Horton genealogy in c.1876, he transcribed Barnabas' incription using standardized spelling for the convenience of contemporary readers, updating "aboad" to abode, et al. I think the historic version is more interesting, however.

Best regards,

Thanks for the updates on the Dallas Co. Alabama Ulmer family. I've tried to link to Father and Mother with no luck. However I found a Margaret Smyly # 37748319 In Pleasant Hill Cemetery, the dates are a little off but could be her. Do you know if she remarried the Smyly after Peter Ulmer's death?? Thanks again.

I am not related. I am trying to get the entire Catholic cemetery online. I try to go over to the cemetery and take a batch of photos and then put them online. I had an accident which has slowed me down but hopefully I will get back in gear as spring arrives. I have transferred the Byrnes that I had to you so you can delete or add what you want to your folks. C J Smith
